Thank you Betty, for this reminder to still "play" with our materials. This will make for a happier experience when beginning a piece, to experiment once again and create marks in the background that inform the later layers. So much to experience in an art practice and you make it happen.

Hi Betty. Would you consider your abstract art intuitive art? Thanks. Donna
@BettyFranksArtАй бұрын
HI Donna! Great question! I had to google the definition of intuitive art and this is what I got: Intuitive art is a creative process that involves expressing your emotions and instincts through art, rather than using formal training or external influences. It's a way to make art without overthinking it, and to focus on the process rather than the final result. Based on that, it's hard to say. I express my love for nature and fields of flowers through my art (my emotions). However, it's not abstract art based only on emotions because I'm expressing my love for flowers. I like what the definition says about making art without overthinking it and to focus on a process. I feel like I do that. So.....I guess my art is intuitive. 🥰 Long answer. Thank you for asking!!
@donnatetreault5040Ай бұрын
@ Thank you - I often create influenced by nature as well when I’m painting flours (more figurative) and interpretations of the ocean waves but I really lose myself when I’m just layering and letting go. Again thanks so much for taking the time to answer me. Donna

How do you do to keep the acrylic paint wet ? I find it dries very quickly. I am new to Mixed Media.
@BettyFranksArt8 ай бұрын
I usually don't have an issue with the paint drying out. That's probably because I live in a climate that isn't very dry and I tend to only put out the amount I'll be using and I work fast. Here's a video I found on how to make a wet palette: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3vZqnlplJZ_i8U I hope that helps!

Wax paper equivalent for people not living in the US?
@BettyFranksArt8 ай бұрын
Good question! I live in the US, so I don't know what it would be called elsewhere. I googled this: Waxed paper (also wax paper, waxpaper, or paraffin paper) is paper that has been made moisture-proof and grease-proof through the application of wax. Not sure if that is helpful. I also found this: Use wax paper to line dishes that aren't going in the oven. Wax paper's best use is lining countertops and tables before rolling out pie crusts or kneading bread, to prevent a mess. Wax paper can also be used to wrap food for cold storage or even line a pan for making something like fudge.

You use a brush in the first example in a video with ditching the brush in the title, lol. you could have easily performed the first one with your fingers. Also, it's Stampendous as in Stupendous. And here we are with brush use in the 4th example where you could have easily used your finger. I gotta unsub. I may or may not feel bad later for pointing out the obvious.
