My good friend (Josh Stewart) and I navigated some newer water on a few hour trip from home & ended up getting on several Big Wild Brown Trout!

You know how it goes brother, dogs and trout have been in cahoots for as long as men have been fishing. Good thing that dog wasn't loud enough to warn that last fish. That Male's jaw was large enough, and the kype so pronounced, that he's probably kin to both Sly Stallone and Jay Leno! Great fish my dude! Sorry that I've been AWOL. Went and caught that 20! Damn Go Pro didn't start recording til halfway through the fight, so I've been trying to catch her again to get some good shots, but the stream has been a ghost town since that day. I went up to Erie with a buddy that's a Steelhead guide last Monday. Caught my first Steelhead. It was alright. I'm not much for the whole float fishing or center pining deal. Stopped at Fish USA there and bought a couple different Mepps that I hoped would work on em, as well as some of our normal Aglias. And my buddy told me that they had a St. Croix 5'8" heavy there, the Eyecon series... so I bought that and put a Shimano 1000 and 8lb on it, so now I have thoroughly copied your setup, hahaha. I took it out yesterday and it worked wonderfully, had a small farm field creek I hadn't fish before. Lots of browns, just nothing of size. Caught a half dozen wild browns, but none were bigger than 14, and the biggest one I saw was slightly larger than that. Oh well! The season is almost here, and I think I need to travel to find some more isolated streams. I know there's a couple good ones here in my area, but they're close to, or in stocked trout water, and I'd rather avoid all the pandemonium. Keep her up brother! Thanks for all the help again! Me landing that 20 is just as much your fault as it is mine!

Nice ones, guys! Well done. Dusty, why are there so few eyelets on your spinning rod? Am I seeing just 3 or 4? I haven't seen a pole with so few and why?
@chasingthewildwithdustyrho26204 ай бұрын
Thanks Brotha, Glad you’re enjoying my man! 👌🤙😁🎣 Well my rod is kind of an accident/on purpose set up, I snap my rod down to 4’5” to 4’8” because of my flip cast accuracy under limbs & such in tight quarters small stream situations…… it stiffens my rod, Lol, therefore allowing to deliver pinpoint accuracy on my casts (in theory) haha…….. the accident part was one day I slammed my rod in my truck door snapping it to about that length, rather than discarding it, I kept using it……. Ended up realizing how much more accurate I’d become I just started doing it on purpose to every new rod I’ve purchased & I never looked back! “The Dusty Rhoads Custom! 😂🤷♂️😂

@chasingthewildwithdustyrho26203 ай бұрын
Yeah he was in full fly mode there….. hold the rod high & net them quick….. unfortunately that big hard pulling trout had other ideas lol🥴🤷♂️ I really don’t have any videos that I illustrate my retrieve other than what you can see in all of my videos….. I essentially like to run it deep & slow haha….. life lesson! 😂

They filmed most of the fishing scenes on the Gallatin River. “Brad Pitt rock” from the scene where he fell in chasing the fish is right along the highway in Big Sky. I’ve fished that stretch numerous times.

@@troutstew7346 even if you were fly fishing I've never seen someone rely on their feet at the expense of getting a big fish like that on the reel and using the leverage of their rod to control it. All gotta start somewhere I suppose. Hopefully your trout senses have improved since 2020.
