If you're inspired to go to Dam after this, go for King's festival end of April. It's a massive party for the King's birthday the night before, and then up early again the next day for a full day sesh. Everyone wears orange, thousands of boats in the canals. The council put on live bands on stages, and then you get houses up each block with DJ's hanging out the windows having their own little party. Absolutely mega.

Since the ground beneath Amsterdam is very soft, many buildings in the city are built on wooden pilings. These wooden beams were pounded into a deeper layer of sand that is solid enough to bear the weight of a building. A stone foundation was built on top of those pilings. I researched it when you mentioned it in the video

I've not been Amsterdam in like 15 years but when I was there, there was a chain fast food gaff called feebo or summit like that. You go in and it's like a wall of glass fronted ovens that you choose from. You should eat there as I'm sure most people will have never seen ought like that. It's burgers and hot dogs too so at least you can eat there.

Use the trams. Super easy and cheap. We stayed a little bit outside the main part of town and just used to get a #1 tram towards central station and jump off a couple of stops early, cross the road and you’re straight in the red light district

Buildings in Amsterdam are built on an angle as the staircases are to small to move furniture so you can winch big pieces up through doors and windows and the on hooks that sit bellow the roof the tilt stops things hitting the houses when being lifted
