So there use to be a restaurant in Leicester call Fisherman’s Catch. It was where the Barbers crossing is now. I believe they were building this to be the new fisherman’s. I can’t remember what happened as it was 30+ years ago but I believe it had something to do with environmental issues. It has sat abandoned ever since.

Ooohhh interesting, thanks so much! I’ll have to look into this, as I couldn’t find anything online during my initial investigation. Very cool!

I believe something had to do with the septic system. It was not approved to have food sold, something in the ground... I forget now. It has been a long long time. It just sits...

When I was really little in the 80s, that building was an ice cream parlor called Sunday Creations (might have been spelled Sundae). You would get ice cream and they had a self-serve buffet of toppings set up. M&Ms, Butterfinger, Oreos, you name it. I think at some point after that it was a seafood restaurant and by the time it closed for good, it was a family restaurant called Daniel's. Not sure when it closed, but I do remember being shocked at how fast nature ate up the parking lot. Once grass and weeds started poking through cracks, the asphalt vanished in just a handful of years. It seems to be in limbo now. Not even for sale even though it's on a main road and real close to a Walmart. The buffet style ice cream was a great idea I wish it had lasted.

This was an ice cream shop called Sundae Creations and I believe it was back in the 80’s. I used to walk there with my dog on the weekends to get an ice cream and the workers used to give my dog old hot dogs lol. Was a nice place. Even had a “make your own sundae” bar where you could add your own toppings.

Lived by there and old Leicester Airport mentioned within 2-3 miles. Memory?? Garage Convenience store about 35 yrs ago "past old gas station before that" closed down and sold to new owners early - mid 90's?? Much of that building torn down. New owners started rebuild put in a Fisherman's Market quickly while working on a restaurant w/Seafood Market mid 90's. Anyways no proper permits for anything and wouldn't have been approved was quickly shut down by Town & State. Besides old septic or cesspool, word has been old gas station tanks and polluted soil from the old past gas station.

There are several abandoned homes in this same area. I always wanted to stop and snoop inside, but I thought I’d get arrested for trespassing. If you’re up to looking at these, I can show you where they all are and I’d LOVE to explore them too.
