Hi, the silvery pyrite looking mineral is usually arsenopyrite. Also the list of minerals at 29:20 is likely from a different mine up the side valley.

So, did they close as a result of the collapses? Certainly seems there was still some rich material in there.

Yes looking at how precarious the mine is in places it must have been too costly to continue mining safely

This kind of mining is very different from say Bingham Canyon. Patient chipping away, to gain a thousand pound of ore. Whereas Bingham moved millions of tons low grade country rock, depending on economy of scale.

Malachite is copper carbonate but you do not know that is what it is. You can not tell by looks.

How are yous allowed access? I've just been and looks simple enough to open?

Surely this would be an open cast mine with today equipment. Could be reopened? Or is it too environmentally tricky..
@UndergroundExplorerUK Жыл бұрын
The mine could be reopened I guess with the right permits , but surely there must be unknown reasons why they haven’t done so already ?! .. the ore body must continue way below the worked mine below ground so there is plenty of Tungsten reserves in there !

Profitability is probably why its not able to reopen, researching it I think this quote sums it up "China wields utmost influence in global tungsten prices. Overproduction of the metal in China has led to a fall in global tungsten prices and vice versa. In the past, the Chinese government had not placed restrictions on domestic tungsten production, which led to a surplus of the metal in global markets and ultimately leading to the falling of global prices. Low tungsten prices forced many tungsten mining companies to shut down and abandon important mines. "
