Thanks for taking us along for the journey brother! I remember exploring that building in early 2018 and there was still a bunch of Royal Mail stuff inside. There is also a tunnel on site which goes under the ground to the train station and that's where they used to put the mail on the train.

That is the old Royal Mail sorting office. I worked there. There are two tunnels that lead to the train station and there used to be a chain where you could hang mail bags on That’s how the mail got onto the trains and into the sorting office.

Awesome video mike! I was going to try this myself but it never seems worth it. This building was the sorting office for the royal mail and they renovated it, sadly they couldnt find people to occupy it, I might try the pub at a later date but the office block isnt worth it anymore. again keep up the good work!

The Railway Tandoori was my shifts go to when on a weekend of nights back in the 90's (be good to know what it's like these days), it was stunning food back then. Haven't seen that area of Newport for years, cheers !

@@Spudboys It was always sheek kebab starter, Chicken Jalfrezi, pilau rice, chips, garlic/ keema nan, dips & poppadom's ( Well it was a long night shift in Llanwern ). It still is my go to curry, although my local now is the Blue Ginger in South Bristol. It's a bring your own booze restaurant, something that was new to me when I first tried it. Let me know how it goes if/when you try one from the Railway, cheers 👍

I used to go to Queens comprehensive school just around the corner. The building or at least the site used to be the main post office sorting office. The tunnel used to be a subway to train station. It still had the old sign above the doorway when I was a kid, the street at the end which has long gone.

Yep, the street you refer to was Thomas Street. John Frost was born in that street.
