That wood panel room has the insignia for the prince of wales and it was a dining hall based on the carvings

If you still want to know what the building was in its heyday, ask the folks who have businesses or employees of the stores what it was! I bet they’d have many things to tell you! The carvings, woodwork, craftsmanship….it will all be lost one day soon. Thank you for taking me out again tonight! I am homebound and your fascination with old things (one of which I am) makes you the perfect man for the job! Many thanks, as always. Be safe!

The carved details in that wood room was fascinating, especially the wood pegs versus having nails to keep the wood together. The stained glass looked fantastic! I’d like to think it was someone’s master bedroom, but, probably not. Loved seeing the details of the fireplace as well! Someone should seriously save this place. I’m so glad you’re back Darren as you have a great talent for exploring very interesting places. Thank you 😊

Hi Chrissy good to hear from you again, it was a real shock when I wandered down the stairs and first saw that room, I just wasn’t expecting it as the rest of the building is very normal. Wouldn’t it be a cool place to live, open plan with awesome features. Maybe I’ll contact the council and see if it’s available to purchase😀

Hi Susan, yes I also loved all the detailed carvings, they must have taken ages to make them all. It must have cost a lot of money to have it made back in those days and I bet the original owner would be shocked to see it leaking water and rotting as it is now. . . . . . . Such a shame, hope it gets saved soon:) Thanks for watching

Yes you're back!! Building I reckon changed uses many times. Had a feel of a bank in certain areas. Then when you showed the main hall it felt like a court room. The rose in the stained glass looked like that of the war of the roses. So I'm guessing very old original features. U can report buildings like this to national heritage to make them aware it needs saving if they arnt already? Might be worth a shot? Don't leave it so long next time! We love your explores
@stare67112 жыл бұрын
Hi Harri good to hear from you again, yes I also thought maybe a court room of some kind because of that royal crest. That’s a good idea about reporting it as with all that water coming in that wood will soon start to rot and it deserves to be saved. Ha I remember the war of the roses film, great fun😀

Good Morning Stare, Wow long time no see, but it has been worth the wait, I hope your well. What a great video, surely that building should be listed, it looks like it goes back to the 1800's. What beautiful carvings & stained lass windows. The archways with the studs are amazing. The royal crest on the wall above the beautiful fireplace makes it look like some kind of court or court related thing. Amazing video, really enjoyed it, it's always a joy to see your videos Stare. Stay safe & can't wait for the next video. Andy. 👍😊👍

This room really caught me by surprise as the rest of the building is very normal and I wasn’t expecting it😳 Lovely to see the old carvings, they really knew how to make stuff look good back in the old days. Just found your channel. Some lovely places. Such a shame they are left for so long and some unclaimed. On the panels there is a thistle that would represent Scotland, the man's face by rhe window looks like the green man (pagan) on Stain glass panels it looked like the Tudor rose and the fleur de lys can represent the the holy trinity. Don't know if any of that helps or means anything about the history and what it was used for 🙂

The shield over the fireplace is that of the Order of the Garter "Honi soit qui mal y pense". The motto under it is: "Dieu et mon droit" ("God and my right".) It's the motto of the British Sovereign. I would love to know the history of this building and what happened to this room, if anything, during the refurbishment. You're right, it should be protected.
