I work at the moclips store. And I can say tourism has begun booming again. As for the local populace, it's closer to 400. We are a mill town. With a mill still in full operation making the shingles. Moclips is far from dead. We're just a "sleepy" town.

Thanks for the info, We're happy to hear tourism is booming! We triple checked to the population based on the 2020 census, still seemed like it was wrong. Thanks for clarification 👍 thanks for watching!

My husband and I used to live in Ocean Shores and it's amazing to me how much history you all are able to find on these places when many of the locals don't even know that some it. I have actually had people argue with me about the hotel in Moclips...

Thanks guys! We found that we really like giving a little history along with an explore. As you know it can be difficult to keep an explore interesting, otherwise it looks more like a home video taken in 80s just use up the rest of the tape 😆🤣

It was a "different time" haha Yeah, it looked like it was a decent school for its time. Being closed in 1990 we're surprised it wasn't decorated with bunch of neon shapes all over the place 😆 Thank for stopping by!

The last Graduating Class was 1990. I was sad about it. They made us move to Shores in the winter break & we was the 1st Grad Class from the Oyhut location. Made me sad to see how rotten everything is. We had to leave bcuz it was built when Asbestos was the thing. Lived on the Rez & Moclips Flats my whole life & you all did amazing providing Moclips History 101.

We have lots of amazing memories in that school……. I am pretty sure the Gym Floor was salvaged. We had a pretty good Bball & Vball floor! And had lots of Pep Rally’s in that Gym & Dances. Can go on & on ♥️

Thanks for sharing your memories, and leaving such a pleasant comment! We had quite a few rude ones from other locals we had to delete. Someone did mention the floor being partially salvaged and used in their wood shop class. So strange the school was never torn down. We highly doubt it would be worth salvaging... very sad.

Ya I don’t know if the plan was to refurbish/renovate the school or what? AND if he was how he’d eradicate the asbestos? I was told he was trying to make a trailer park for travel trailers/RV Park like thing. He was advertising that for a minute. He has to have a chunk of land now to do something kool. I’m sorry ppl are rude. I enjoyed your video & now follow you all. Have a blessed weekend

So was the asbestos ever removed? I need to look into it (just for general knowledge),but I wonder how extensive was the asbestos? Perhaps the pipes were wrapped with insulation containing it, for years they made a 12"×12" VAT, Vinyl Asbestos Tile that got installed in places like schools because of it's low cost, durability - wear resistant in areas of heavy foot traffic which schools are at the top of the list for sure, relatively easy and fast to install keeping installation labor costs down, but it's a killer; it's replacement was/is VCT, Vinyl Composite Tile. I used to be my dad's helper at work, he was a tile setter. We did a couple jobs installing VCT, lots of slate (basically mud that's mineralizing-ish into stone), glass block walls, cultured stone, marble and granite, porcelain tile, adobe, glass tile (yeah it's a thing, check it out), mosaic tile which is 1"×1" tiles that come on a 12"×12" sheet on a mesh backing, lots of old school mud showers which is nothing like using dura rock, wonder board, hardy backer, etc. Anyway sorry for all the needless chatter. I miss my dad terribly. Oh by the way, my grandma (dad's mom) lived in North Cove which is about 13 miles south of Westport, Wa. Ocean Shores is on the north of grays harbor, Westport on the south. Great memories of childhood and going to "the beach." My dad told me one time all he had to do was mention the idea of going to the beach and mom would have all their stuff packed, loaded in the car, and she would be sitting in the car totally ready to go, smoking a cigarette waiting for my dad to hop in so they could take off! 😆😅😂😆 I remember a time or two when they announced they were leaving for the beach shortly. I asked when, mom said a few minutes, as soon as your dad finishes whatever it is he's doing...hilarious, you had to be there. My folks weren't high strung, stressed out people but let me tell ya.....yeah life is bittersweet. Life is a journey not a destination. Lastly, I'm sorry those folks left nasty comments. I'll never understand why people aren't willing if not eager to conversate in a kindly manor and ask you in for a cup of coffee, tea, or ? My grandma had a guest book for people to sign when they came and stayed with her. It was just a cabin originally; after Pa died in '71 my dad and uncle remodeled it into a small house where she moved after retiring from being a school bus driver in the Renton area. Anyway, most of the people who signed her guestbook I had no idea who they were. She didn't know a lot of them either, friend of a friend etc but they were welcome to come stay with her for free, for free you guys. Like a bed and breakfast but free which was nice for folks just getting by paying the bills like our family. Kirk out, Spock out, out out out, I'm out.

Hey guys I'm a little late to this one, pretty hectic in the Pinetop household, moving across the country & all 😆 This was a big one man...piddling around with little abandoned houses and whatnot is fun, but the big buildings like that school are the real score! And you got some wonderful footage! So many places I regret not getting around to before we moved away from the Pacific Northwest...but you know what? There's gonna be tons of cool locations to explore here in DETROIT!!

Some friends and I tried to go in here last year in February, but we got yelled at by some locals and told to get out or they'd call the cops. Did you have any problems with people there getting in or out?
@DecayWithUs

We asked one of the neighbors, even parked out front. No one seemed to mind. Maybe something changed? The locals saw our video too, no one said a thing about going to the school, but a few left rude comments (deleted) about things we (Google) supposedly got wrong haha
