Awesome granite island adventure. It would have been awesome if you had a go-pro an your kayak, to drop in the black waters. Might have seen a sam squench. Lol. All that old equipment was really neat to see of a time period that has been long gone for some time now. An for it to just be out on an island all by its self. One can only imagine seeing all the guys putting in a hard days work, cutting the granite an getting it ready to ship out to its final destination. I'd say maybe go back an do some bottle hunting an detecting up in the woods. You just never know what's hiding in them there woods. Great video chigg. As always safe an happy hunting guys. That sure is an interesting place full of history. Funny.... I would have thought that there would have been no un-settled land along the east coast of Maine. I pictured it as quite inhabited. With all the old equipment there and the boilers in the water, I am surprised that no one had gathered up all the scrap for some big $. I guess the logistics would be quite the challenge though? Thanks for showing us the air dried rust flakes on the old rails. It is amazing how that happens! I am really glad that you did not dive in that murky water. Looks a tad dangerous. That was a different twist to your Aquachigger song, all slow like that. How did you do it? It seemed that the guy singing it was still on key, yet it was slowed down at the same pitch? Or do you have a pitch control on your editing software? Still, being slow like that it would be handy for those who really wanted to know what the lyrics were. LOL! ;)

Chigg, Billie, Thor......That is really something, long ago my parent's went to Bermuda and they had Sandstone Quarries there.... looked quite similar to The Granite ones in ME. There's Granite here in NM but the black colore-d particles are very fine & small..... Looks a lot different from Granite in MA., too. in my home town there was a Shale quarry, some called it Slate, it was used for walkways. In my Early years a guy was working there in the quarry and broke a tooth off the steam shovel bucket..! His friend came w/an acetylene torch and brazed the tooth back onto the bucket. As he was brazing, fine particles of shale/slate started popping like Pop Corn... to make a long story short, it was tested and became a light weight aggregate... Known as Masslite..! Concrete companies bought and mixed it in w/concrete to produce light weight cement Blocks. It was also used on Tennis Courts, gardens and shrubs, in smaller bags because it held water for a long time, It was also used to build the Prudential Building in Boston, Mass. and many other structures.....! =)
