For the peole voicing concern about Tripper in the crate in the canoe.....I wedged his crate in the canoe, the boat would have had to flip for hi to come out. Anyone who has watched my canoe tripping videos have seen me addle in some sketchy stuff, and never once have i flipped this boat, yu sit very low, and it is nothing like a traditional canoe....this was a tiny lake, with no strong wind. I made a call, and was safe as possible, all is well, thank you for the concern. Sometimes you have to do stuff when you are outside.................
@CountyClaire5 жыл бұрын
I thought using a crate was a great idea....especially on a first time trip in the canoe! I have complete confidence that you have thought it all out.
@septarian33375 жыл бұрын
I'm sure this comes with time and as your channel grows I'm sure you're aware you're going to get so many more comments from people voicing their concerns or just adding their two cents..... When that happens, just remember not everyone was blessed with common sense. None of these people are in the woods with you or in your canoe with you. They don't know you or really anything about you. You are very experienced and obviously know what you're doing. I truly believe you would never put yourself or that dog in any real danger and if anything unexpected were to happen you'd handle it just fine. Don't let those people get to you. You're seriously doing an amazing job and forget the rest.
@loctrice5 жыл бұрын
I like how people just add their comment thinking they are the first one to think about it. Don't read, just give your unique opinion that other people have already said. I've also had a puppy in a canoe and I think that the crate is an okay idea until they get used to stuff. The commenters probably don't even have dogs. The very first thing your pup is likely to do first time out is help you roll the boat. Then you're out in the icy water. Plus if you are worried about getting through the ice, or pushing off the ice to navigate safely, you can't watch the untrained dog.
@d.mushroomhunter35285 жыл бұрын
Hey Joe! I'm sorry,I believe that I was one of the first people to voice a concern.?? TheSafety of Tripper was something that just jumped out at me! But more importantly! Tripper trusts you. You have made huge leaps and bounds to earn his trust and encourage him to be confident in the canoe. I just felt the crate was never even necessary... full stop!!

James K I was thinking the same thing. What a great video man... It's really cool and interesting to see the "behind the scenes", when it's not going as smooth as you expected and how you get to places and the endless search for a good spot, this's awesome!

Joe, You are on a path man. Keep the dogs close. Mans best friend. I think you need 2 for this next cycle of your life, but get a rescue. They deserve it.

Congratulations on your first proper trip with Tripper :) I completely enjoyed it! He's such a sweetie. Loved when he was curled up in your sleeping bag 💗He's going to be a great dog. Well, he already is 😉

You need some MaxTrax for the back of that truck! A set of those will get you outta all kinda of snow/mud, especially with a winch. Also, Tripper cuddled up in his towel in the front of the canoe is the cutest thing ever. He probably didn't want to come out of the tent that first night because of the wind.

Don't forget to take your empty backpack in case the little guy needs a ride home. He is still quite small. I got my yellow lab X Brittany spaniel at 4 months and he needed to be carried a couple of times by my son and me taking turns. And then Lucy an American Eskimo X border collie started scrambling through the bush at 4 months. We carried her home part way about 8 times. She played on the beach and swam with the local pack of pets. Love to see you keeping on. Best journeys yet to come! Added an edit: he looks like he has his own camo suit on!

The fish is definitely from the genus Salvelinus or char, the same genus as a Brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis.) Char have light spots on a darker background. Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) are from the same family as char (Salmonidae) but are in a different genus. The fish in the Oncorhynchus genus all have dark spots. I'd guess it was a Lake Trout (Salvelinus namaycush) or maybe an Arctic Char (Salvelinus alpinus.) The coloration is quite variable so I can't pin it down any closer than that.

That's the long and short of it. Trout like Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat have square tails and the Char type forked. Good info!
