Duke and I like camping and exploring in the outback of Nevada, Idaho, and Oregon. On this trip we drove north from Winnemucca into Oregon and then east to the North Fork Campground in the North Fork Owyhee Wilderness of Idaho.
The next day we drove the Owyhee Uplands Back Country Byway and then drove south down the the east side of the Bruneau River. We stopped at the stunning Bruneau Canyon Scenic Viewpoint. Then we continued south to the Forks Campground. The campground is just a few miles north of the Nevada Idaho border where the East Fork of the Jarbidge River meets the Jarbidge River itself.
On day three we drove through the Jarbidge wilderness, across the Independence Mountains and then headed home via Elko.
It was a fun backcountry exploring trip. We saw very few people. Stayed at two wonderful campground and were reminded again about how great it is to be out exploring.

It's pronounced Owe-Y-hee. I love that area, very remote and beautiful.

Good to see this area. I normally travel the sections West of your route. One of my goals for 2024 is to access the Owyhee River from the west off hwy 78. Some extremely remote country less traveled.

I'd be very interested to hear about your experience going in from the west. We might try that next year.

You folks should chevk out the Gazelle T4 tent

Thank you! I just checked it out online and it looks fantastic. Definitely easier to set up than our current tent. Now I just have to justify buying a new tent when we don’t really need one.

I tried to follow along with my map, but I got lost. A lot of country in those parts. I know what it's like to loose reading glasses while camping and it's miserable!

Do you use any solar?
@BoomersWithoutBorders
@BoomersWithoutBorders Жыл бұрын
No, but we certainly could have. I keep thinking it would be nice to get a solar generator/ battery like a Jackery. We don’t really need one but it would be nice to have.
