This week we were at the Pacific City Thousand Trails. We explored the Three Capes Scenic Loop, including Cape Meares and it's tiny lighthouse, Cape Kiwanda and Tunnel Beach. We also went crabbing and did quite well. So, sit back and enjoy another Week in the Life!

Dear Dan, I greatly enjoy your videos and respect your right to have 'YOUR OWN THOUGHTS" but when you call something "garbage" that you haven't fully experienced I must now rake you over the coals. Having been to Cape Lookout and gone up in the lighthouse has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Yes we did have fog the first time we tried to see the lighthouse, but we came back the next day and received our great reward for our effort. The views were awesome and to have the honor to climb the steps of the lighthouse and stand next to the lighthouse lens was an experience to cherish for life. The view from the top of the lighthouse was breathtaking and would have left Jen in total awe. The people who volunteer to work at this place are fantastic, and I envy them for their "office views". When you called this place garbage, you not only disrespected the place but the people that work there. I hope you will try to come back on a clear day to see my point of view. If you do I want to see a video of the event and know how many times Jen hits you for being so wrong. Please, when you call something garbage, express that the thoughts are yours and yours only. For as you well know, ones persons trash is another's treasure.

Thank you for the fast reply. I respect your opinion, but am a bit curious to know why your assessment of this place is garbage. Also your video of you crabbing was very enjoyable and educational. Thank you again for all your excellent videos.

Beautiful area. We use to have fun catching crabs but we didn't use anything like that. From what I remember, you would need 10 blue crabs for a 1 person meal. Thanks for sharing! 😀 Steve

If you’re ever in San Simeon, California area, home of Hearst Castle, check out the elephant seal beach, literally 1,000s of elephant seals, sometimes you catch them fighting, it’s AMAZING!, Hearst Castle is too!

That was cool crab hunting. I used to catch with chicken off the dock with a line. And of coarse the crab pots but was fun to try to get them holding on and net em. Thats a cool contraption to snag em. Too bad u couldn't get a few. Love crabs. Cant believe how expensive they are now. Great beach.

Sea-lie-al Just saying. Thank you for all the great videos. Oh and I started this video yesterday, Wednesday and had to continue it today, Thursday not knowing that it spanned 2 days. I stopped it exactly in the right spot and then you started again with "it's tomorrow, Thursday". Freaky dude!

Question: Do crabs hit or jerk a line like a fish does? Very cool content 👍🏻 🦀 thanks for showing us how to crab! In the future could you maybe share how you clean and cook crab?
@DanJen

No, but they do move the snare around a bit and you can see the rod tip bounce.

We just went crabbing last weekend. I would love to forage, especially for seafood. What are you using for bait? Do you think the snare trap would work with a rope instead of a fishing rod? Lou & Angie
@DanJen
@DanJen 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure the rope would work. If you don't keep tension on the snare, the loops will loosen and the crabs would escape. We use chicken gizzards for bait. Crabs love them.

If "amazing" is annoying to you (not me), try "astonishing, astounding, surprising, bewildering, stunning, staggering, shocking, startling, stupefying, breathtaking, perplexing, confounding, dismaying, disconcerting, shattering. awesome, awe-inspiring, sensational, remarkable, spectacular, stupendous, phenomenal, prodigious, extraordinary, incredible, unbelievable."
