Baguio, as a city, was built by the Americans. It's originally a resort town, pretty much like Denver in Colorado.

The city, roads, and the Governor's mansion were done in 3 years, ready for occupancy by the Governor-General by July 4, 1903. There were no diesels just muscle power. Labor were mainly Chinese coolies, some Japanese and a lot of Filipino laborers.

30+ years ago... Baguio is full of pine trees and not too many residents. Unlike today it's more like little Manila in the mountain. Like a lot of things in life change always happens. Still there's always something new that compliments the past. Have a blast guys! Next stop... Sagada and Batanes...

There are still pine trees in B.C. though not quite as many as before. However, some areas surrounding Baguio do in fact have them propagating in the rugged terrain of Benguet and the Mountain Province. Growing them naturally in the ordinary course of nature seems to be a likely favored outcome, i.e. a gift from God

The only thing I dislike about Baguio is the smoke coming from the jeepneys but overall I loved the weather der.
@thegoatee63805 жыл бұрын
I disagree... the city's weather has captured the attention of many tourists, like the bloggers themselves, same through with the locals. The diversity of attractions from the rolling hills to the valleys have made the place unique, to include the vegetables, flowers, and strawberries that the city and the neighboring towns bring. The city's universities have been the favorites of many foreign students.
@PaulJohn015 жыл бұрын
@@jervichans4829 No, there's almost no foreign tourists in Baguio, very few Westerners live here, but a lot of Korean businesses and students, occasionally you'll see a few Westerners in SM but most just stay at home with their families or out at night in restaurants.

@@PaulJohn01 at least there have foreign tourists in Baguio but don't say no have, because it's impossible ok? @espedidosgs5 жыл бұрын
It's always very refreshing when you go to Baguio. Like you guys Baguio is my favorite place in my country. Beautiful place, beautiful people and lots of arts scene. There are a lot of art places there. The city of Baguio was masterplanned by the same guy who planned the city of Manila and Chicago, Edward Burnham. Burnham's city planning projects did not stop at Chicago though. Burnham had previously contributed to plans for cities such as Cleveland (the 1903 Group Plan),San Francisco (1905), and Manila (1905)and Baguio in the Philippines, details of which appear in the 1909 Plan of Chicago publication. Edward Burnham also designed the Flatiron Building in NY. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Burnham

During the month of February, there's a possibility of experiencing frosts early morning in some areas in the northern part of Benguet.

it’s good to see you guys covering Baguio City. Although it is popular for local tourists, you wouldn’t see as many foreigners there. So that’s a new angle for you guys. And I hope when you’re done with the Sagada trip, yoi head to the Batad Rice Terraces and Tappiyah Falls in Banaue, Ifugao! It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s just a marvelous creation of man. So happy about this vlog series. Not too many vloggers explore the mountainous northern region. :) Glad you guys did it.

Now that you are in the northern part of the country, try to see BANAWE, SAGADA, LA TRINIDAD, VIGAN CITY, the surfing white sand beaches of LA UNION and the HUNDRED ISLANDS of PANGASINAN.. Way up the tip of Philippines are the BATANES ISLANDS discussed and featured extensively by [ FinnSnow ] that looks like a different country.

How's the climate up there? To your liking? There's a strong community of Koreans in Baguio. Students comprise the majority of the population. It's in Baguio that the Tiger of Malaya, Gen. Yamashita, who earlier in the war (WWII) was instrumental in the surrender of British Army in Singapore, was captured here. It is home to the the Philippine Military Academy.

Tanduay is my favorite liquor. No hangover if you drink it with water or ice only.

There are also residential villages in Baguio. Many things to see in Baguio. Asked the right locals . The locally weaved and made in Baguio place mats, table runners... etc. I think the place is called Good Shepherd ! Baguio grows many vegetables, fruits and flowers . Buy local strawberry jam to take home.

baguio weather is predictable at any time of the year it often rains around 3pm onwards. But the rain does come quite often during the rainy season from july to september, just make sure to start early to beat the rain.
