Thank you, i really enjoyed this video, i lived in gates ave & Knickerbocker ave in 1968 to 1977 moved out as a teenager after the NY blackout, it was awesome to see my neighborhood after 50 years, i saw some street signs but couldn't see all the street signs because i was trying to see where you was walking , back in 1974 i used to walk around just like you. I used to go to that church when i was 10 yrs old in 1973, now I'm retired in Tampa Florida

Best thing about Bushwick was the pretzel factory on Starr street off of Knickerbocker Ave.

Bushwick is a cool neighborhood. I lived near Flushing and Knickerbocker Avenues. I used to hang out at the 3 Diamond Bar on Knickerbocker. Can't say nothing bad about the place. Proximity to the L subway and M train is a big plus.

Not more quiet. More dangerous. The shootouts pop off still on a daily and nightly on Broadway and Myrtle and Broadway and Flushing. In fact, any non-tourist tour of Bushwick should start on Flushing and Broadway at the J train station by the hospital. From there you can go through Bushwick Houses and work your way up Flushing to Knickerbocker.

Hey, it is not Marie Hernandez it's Knickerbocke Park. For me and many that grow up in the area that was all italian it was the best place to go and walk around with friends but the Puerto 🇵🇷 came and F**k it up ghetto ways.

i was born and raised there. my mom is puerto rican and got there back in the 60's. my dad is white and grew up there. first, its bushiwck, not booshwick, it was german, irish, and itialian. the latinos came, destroyed the neighborhood, and thus began white flight, same in the bronx. when i grew up there, there were few whites and they went to work. most latinos were busy selling drugs and killing each other. don't make this some sob story. gates ave was unwalkable back in the day. maria hernandez park got that name for a reason. gentrification didn't destroy bushwick, the people living there did. i was there, i grew up in that shit hole. and thankfully i am far from it and my wife and kids never have to see it.

I agree with you on something but Puerto Rican that in that area were working class people with Moral, the whites were trouble makers. They did not want the puerto ricans in the Italian neighborhoods they would call them cucarachs and other bad names. I know this I grew up in that area, I no longer live there for over 50 years.. Most of the puerto ricans from the area moved away.Went back to Puerto Rico.Because that was the intentions never to stay here and go back there. The ones that are there low life ones? They are not even real puerto ricans at my opinion. And yes, it is a s*** hole place.
