I really enjoyed this journey through Chinatown, and I must say that it has more appeal at night with the lights. Paddy's Market has always been underwhelming for me as a local and especially now as it undergoes a renovation. I don't think there's any comparison to Perth as they are two totally different cities, with each having its own appeal. I love Perth and think of it more as a beautiful country town with a relaxed and layed back atmosphere. Sydney is a much older and unplanned city with a much faster pace and a beautiful harbour in which to relax and slow down. I hope you will return in the future and visit other states and territories to really appreciate the beauty and vastness of Australia and the friendliness of its people. I like to think that no matter how far you travel and what beauty you find along the way, there is no place like home.

Yeah, Chinatown - other cuisines are available - is a lot bigger than Dixon St and Market City. I see so many vloggers never venture far from there. There is even a newer expansion to the west at Darling Square. You should have gone for Yum Cha. Get some of those chicken feet into you. The cost does add up if you aren't careful. And if anyone is wondering about the "Darling" name, as in Darling Harbour, it isn't anything to do with someones sweetheart, but General Sir Ralph Darling, who served as Governor of New South Wales from 1825 to 1831.The indigenous name is 'Tumbalong', meaning a place where seafood is found. So, still a place for seafood, although a few more food options have been added to the menu since those days. Haymarket has been a market area since the 1820s. It was the main Sydney produce market, but that is now at Flemington. Paddy's was more of a local market for local people, but much more touristy now.

Should've had half a dozen beers at the Covent Garden with us, Lee, before you tackled that food court feed. No doubt both of those dishes would've scored a lot better with a skin full. Obviously Paddy's markets are under renovation with all that cyclone fencing up. You didn't go upstairs more levels of shops, factory clearance etc restaurants and a foodcourt.

Spent 7 months in Glebe in '92 while backpacking. Chinatown was our place for cheap food and Bobbys kebabs and the Pie shop on Glebe Point Rd. Loved Sydney, lots of laughs and great memories.

Loving these videos of Sydney. Agree that the walk from Bondi to Coogee is worth the effort. Also another great choice for fish and chips would be Doyles at Watson Bay. They have a take away and Doyles on the beach is a great fish restaurant in the quality on your earlier visit to Garfish.

There is a reason that the English pound appears to be more valuable than the Australian dollar, it goes back to when our currency was changed. In Australia the 1pound became 2 dollars, the reason being that 1 shilling became 10c and was closer to matching the original values. Also the $2 coin is smaller than the $1 coin because the $1 came out first and it was better to make a smaller thick coin than a bigger thin one.

My experience of Thai and Chinese restaurants, Thais usually make everything from fresh but Chinese cut corners and use frozen or tinned ingredients. Genuine Thai is usually better but more expensive. Not all Chinese do this and many are great if it’s done fresh

We always go to the Dixon's House food court when we're in Sydney, cheap and tasty Chinese food, one of the stalls is always very busy, that's the one to head for 😏. It's in Chinatown and you enter it from Hay St or Dixon St. Well worth a visit.

Hard to go wrong round there Lee. Chinatown suffered hugely during the Covid lockdown but even today hasn't fully recovered ,maybe your video will bring them good luck and prosperity. There's also Flemington markets, Melbourne markets and Salamanca markets in Hobart - that's about as good as it gets, international tourists provides most their money. ❤

Great tour of the food around Chinatown but to be honest Lee, you were spoilt for choice there. To the average person like me, it all looked superb and the variety was amazing. It is one place i would visit more than any other if i was where you are now. You will look back on that choice you had once you get back to Britain and i can see you in the near future somewhere like Rochdale or maybe even Blackpool with Steve and you will be wishing you had that same choice. You will be forever referring to your trip down under and salivating at all the dishes that you did not try. .. Great video once again.

this why a 99 is called - When Cadbury launched its small Flake for ice creams in 1930, the UK ice cream industry was dominated by ex-pat Italians. Love this style of filming the vlog Lee, just as you and not The MacMaster although saying that I love both. Great walk around Chinatown in Sydney. Maybe if you’d waited for you Chinese meal you would have got better. The Lemon chicken looked ok but like you said over battered. That peppered beef and onions looked more preferable. A nice cool refreshing beer afterwards. Paddy’s Market looked a bit hyped up for tourists more like parts of Oxford Street in London. Overall great video.

Authentic Chinese batter is made differently than the batter we use for fish. I have found that when you are eating something a little bit spicy, you need to eat the rice with it to help with the heat. If that is not enough, you need some milk to take away the burn.

A green curry and rice in a Thai restaurant in Thailand will cost you about £2. Thai people don't eat a lot of green curry, masaman and I don't recall ever seeing a Thai eat Pad Thai. Their go to dishes are mainly pad krapow moo (£1 minced pork with rice and spices) and som tum ( £1 pappaya salad). Masaman although eaten sometimes in Thailand is originally from Malaysia. I like a masaman.

Go down into the historic “ Rocks” area Lee, near the “;Overseas Passenger Terminal “ ( the Sydney Cruise Ship terminal, in Circular Quay). It’s the site of the 1st convict settlement, and has lots of little laneways that lead to some great eateries. Also while there, check out Sydney’s oldest Pub, “ The Fortune of War” Hotel in George St. The food there is great.

I have eaten lamb's brain 🐑 Towards the end of the 80s, I was an apprentice chef at a hotel where we served lamb's brain as a night snack at a wedding. Of course I had to taste. It was a special texture but tasted good. Another great video 👍👌

Never heard of a 99! 🤷‍♀️ My favourite in China town is "Chinese Noodle restaurant" in Thomas Street, Haymarket. Great food, quite popular. If you do go there must try their braised sticky eggplant which they're known for, even if you don't usually like eggplant(which I don't), it's surprisingly good! Crisp on outside and melts on inside. And has a slightly sweet taste. The cream puffs you showed earlier in the vid are infamous around Sydney. Tasty and very cheap. Thai is nice but Vietnamese is probably my favourite. Always feels fresh and cleaner not greasy like some other Asian and south Asian cuisines. Love Vietnamese pancakes - banh xeo. Vietnamese Pho is also popular in Sydney. But the most popular Vietnamese food and a Sydney staple at this point is Banh Mi. The classic "pork roll" is the most popular one. And very filling but cheap eat for Sydney. $6-9 depending where you go. Plenty of places do them but Marrickville pork roll is the OG, authentic and tasty. There's one in loftus lane in Sydney city and Steam mill lane in Haymarket (so in the China town area, I think you may have even gone past it in the vid). I hope you get to try one before you leave. I've mentioned before but" Spice Alley" is great too as it has several SE Asian cuisines all in the one place. And the outdoor seating with the lanterns makes you feel like you're in an SE Asian country eating street food, great vibe. Definitely recommend. It's a short walk from central station.

I started going to Dixon Street when I was four and my Grandad took me shopping at the Chinese Markets. He always brought home the fresh ingredients to make us a stir fry at home, and also bought us lots of treats, so I grew up eating things like Chun Piu Moi, Lup Cheong, liquorice flavoured prunes (my favourites of all the dried plums), White Rabbit candies, and char siu bao! I still treat myself to lup cheong and rice, best things ever! Dixon Street had two of my favourite restaurants, but looking at this video, I doubt they still exist, the families who owned them would be long gone by now, but they were simple eateries, like a big family kitchen with black and white tiled floors, free tea from the huge urn - just grab a clean glass and help yourself - and the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I miss those days!

Having been a regular visitor to China Town for over 30 years, I’d be choosing a multitude of restaurants over that food court each and every time.

This style of Content in your video's now is a lot better, because it does feel a lot more Personal, Intimate and just that bit more as if i am walking with You. I really did like Paddy's Market. There was so many Food stalls and loads of different types of Fruit and Vegetables. There was a very Good mixture of different Products and little Moment's that you could Purchase. I really like Fridge Magnets to put on my new Fridge Freezer that is being delivered tomorrow. Chinatown, did look absolutely Superb. I really like your Dishes Lee, that you tried. Very Delicious and cooked so well. Yes, i am a Fan of the All you can eat Buffet. You go up to the Buffet, have a look to see what there is on offer, take a small plate and have a small Portion of different Meat Dishes, some Seafood Dishes and a little bit of Vegetables and Soft Noodles, please do Not Pile or Heap up the Food on your plate, because you can go back as many times as you can manage. That is the Whole idea, of an All you can eat. Some, people get it Wrong, they really are just Greedy so and so's. I only, have as much as i can manage. Only about 2/3 small plates. You have to make room for the Deserts. Chocolate Fountain with Pieces of Fruit to Dip, real Itialian Gelato Ice-Cream, Chocolate Profitteroles and Whipped Cream. I really do know my All you can eat Buffets. You have to pay one price for the Buffet. Always go for any Offers..
