I was a very highly paid chef in Australia for quite a few years some time ago . We had crocodile on the menu and every time someone ordered it they would say , 'And make it snappy ' . I think the girl was being kind saying no one else had ever said it . What I wanted to mention was that the crocodile was not Australian . The crocodile we served was ' farmed ' in Florida . In Australia their crocodiles are allowed to eat you but you are not allowed to eat them .

Food is generally cheaper for fruit and veg in the UK because alot of it is imported. In Australia the bulk is grown here because you can yield everything from the tropics to temperate climatic zones. It's more seasonal so in the summer months it's alot cheaper. And the quality is far superior in Australia because importation makes produce less fresh. And because Australia is do big alot if food is grown in isolated regoins that are purer. Same with meat as well. And Greggs is mass produced rubbish, there is much better places in the UK than them. And small bakeries especially in country towns in Australia have handmade produce and not made in bulk in a factory like Greggs.

The demount-able on the side of the Forrest Hwy was just a temporary shop while they waited for the service station to be built. The original Miami Bakehouse was in the beachside suburb of Miami just south of Mandurah. The suburb name was changed to Falcon back in the 80's and there is still a Miami Bakehouse outlet there although I don't think they bake the pies there anymore.

Miami Bakehouse has FIVE shops - not really an answer to Gregg’s. 🤣🤣🤣 We’re actually traveling down to Margaret River today and I’ll probably have a pie en route. Might even try MB (been on a previous visit and it was just OK so hoping for some improvement). Normally go to Crooked Carrot for one of their speciality pies. Your pies looked excellent (I’ve been banging on about pies since you announced you were heading to WA - Pinjarra Bakery being better than MB by some way). Best sausage roll in Australia (official champions) is from Halls Head in Mandurah. Btw - Wild Bean cafes do a cracking Pepper Steak pie for $5 (it’s a little smaller but a great snack on the way). Mandurah is a lovely harbour town, but Dolphin Quay is the lesser end. It has one of the most amazingly beautiful War Memorials on the planet. I think your ‘guide’ might be only worth a 4/10 - although he might have been bothered by your hyper corny ‘British stereotyping Australia’ embarrassing jokes. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the video.

Think the email advice was out of date. The original Miami bake house was in a location nearby there but in a shed in a field - which it seemed to refer to. That closed up some years ago though, so suspect the recommendation was somewhat out of date. Closest comparison now is its standalone store further down the same highway at Myalup. Also in a paddock, features an art installation of 20 or so theme decorated kangaroos.
