As I said in another comment, them being broken is a major problem. It's the type of thing that will kill people. Great idea, but maintenance needs to be on board.

@@PsRohrbaugh You have to realize that the programs for this kind of thing are usually underfunded. If you would like to see more operational vending machines like that one, the best thing you can do is spread the word and, if possible, donate to those programs/charities. The people that run the program are probably just as upset as you about the machine not functioning, and much more aware. But a lot of repairs require technicians, and if you've ever used vending machines daily, you know that they break a LOT. And that's just snack machines, not a machine like that one, which is probably prone to more vandalism. Not to mention, the style of machine they're using is pretty old, probably because it's what they could afford.

2 years ago I worked in Paris in a game studio and they had a vending machine that sold towels, underwear, foldable raincoats, soap, mint chewing gum as well as subway tickets. It was very peculiar but also very practical at the same time for the employees :)

Narcan vending machines is good, another use could be if someone collapses in public even a stranger can get the narcan needed if close enough. In some places heroin isn't that common, it's mostly just fentanyl now. If it was just heroin there wouldn't be nearly as many people dying so suddenly. Not to mention xanax and other pills cut with it, way to easy to accidentally do just the tiniest bit too much, even if you know it's fent. While vending machines like this aren't everywhere, I imagine most places had a type of Needle Exchange Program that provides all the same things if you are in need
