Wow! I live in Driffield, and I knew about the farm shop, but I had no idea the rest of it was there. That blacksmith workshop is amazing. What a shame it's all going to be destroyed.

Agreed, the days of fancy building like this are gone for such utilitarian places.

Been driving past this for years and had no idea how brilliant it was, I felt very sad watching this, there is a bloody petrol station down the road so why on earth do they need more?

It will be a bigger company, and they have influence! the little self owned place wont matter to big companies. But this site is way more important that a new building site!

Used to deliver there as part of a milk round in the early 90’s. We used to call it Angus’s farm but think that was because of the Aberdeen Angus beef sign they used to have near the roundabout entrance.

It's scandalous when history like this is destroyed. Blacksmith's shop alone should be saved, even if rebuilt in another location.

Yeah he's never cared. Got enough money, took the quick buck when possible but didn't want anyone or anything to do with saving the property. Wouldn't let anyone live in the house & save it, rather let it rot, did the same with farm shop. Was a good business but too much hassle for them.

I remember they said they wanted to turn it into a little nature reserve, petrol station and fast food place. All the rubbish would be in that reserve in no time

There would have been a lot of Shire horses stabled on that farm, the blacksmith would make the horse shoes on site. There are so many buildings the farm was probably much bigger in 1841, maybe part of the old RAF Driffield once belonged to the farm. All the work in the fields would be done with horses and then maybe steam engines at a later date, long before they ever got the first tractor.

I would think RAF Driiffield was some of the fields to it long before it was an airfield, and this farm would have been very busy, the old sheds are huge! and the iron fly wheels would suggest steam powered engines! but sadly this will mostly be swept away for a floating base type petrol station and fast food joint i suspect if the right palms are greased!

Driven past it a million times, never been in there though. Yeah, medieval Driffield is underneath modern Driffield, it hasn't moved. It was originally a Scandinavian settlement, at least that's where it's 'Three Fields' name derives.

medieval Driffield is in the whole area, a chariot was found on the estate at the bottom of Woldholme when that was being built, however, if this land is built on, any remains and potential sites need to be considered. :)

It's built on the medieval hamlet of kelleythorpe not driffield. They're not building a drive through facility or fuel station either.

I ask permission, in this case a farm worker was present and off camera, as they didn't want to be filmed.
