Performance on a recent ride resulted in me wanting to change the throttle mapping for 4th gear. While considering what changes I would make I decided to look further into what may be affecting or in this case limiting the peak performance.

Keep us update. In my MT-10 2024 There are more maps, like (3 x LIF) x (3 x mode). Or 3D ETV limit map, in addition to 2D map you are showing here. Plus other maps

You can set the ETV limit to 100 across the board, then whatever you set in your ETV tables should 'in theory' be what you get. However....in reality even completely 'unrestricted' like this, the ECU still puts some hard limits on ETV. From my logging: 5500rpm, whole shebang As well, it's possible to have too large of a throttle opening at a given RPM. Like old school flat slide carbs when you whack the slides wide open and the bike bogs down. But I reckon this will depend on the particular mods you have. My bike has the stock intake and stock exhaust and I haven't found any advantages to opening up the ETV further than the stock higher gear 100% TPS values. P.S. I know what you mean about it feeling like it being 'slow to pick up', but part of it is likely just the nature of these bikes. If you take a look at various dyno runs, the stock exhaust has a slight flat spot around 5000-5500rpm, and with an aftermarket exhaust not so much, but all the runs I've seen regardless of exhaust have a noticeable bump up in torque from 6500-7000rpm. So it feels like your'e getting a kick in the pants.

Are those hard limits or the TCS, LIF kicking in? The possibility of making too big an opening and bogging down the bike is something i'm very aware of and yes i'm thinking back to my old carb sports bikes from back in the late 90's like my much beloved TRX 850. My stock exhaust mod improved low rpm flow but still has the top end restriction imposed by the cat. If you turn the limits map graph in excel clockwise a bit you can see it as a dip at around 5000-5500 rpm. It's not a flat spot in raw values but relative to where it should be it's definitely restricted. In reality I have the lift control keeping the wheel down in 1st and 2nd on the stock maps and also holding the front down in first when accelerating off some bumps so I saw no reason to play with the lower gear etv maps. I've always been happy with the performance and wasn't looking to change things. But the changes I made to 4th, 5th and 6th didn't seem to do anything so i'm hoping this makes a difference. I have a racebox mini on the way so maybe the accelerometer in it will give me some solid feedback figured given I don't have a dyno.

@@davidb3925 Hard limits - tested in 6th gear. It's too bad the Woolich log box doesn't log IMU data.

I only Discovered Etv limit myself last week having already removed the Etv table restrictions months ago. I changed the limit to 100% from 10100rpm up but am yet to try the bike yet. I’m not totally sure this limiting table overrides the changes made in the Etv table or not to be honest. My initial changes definitely woke the bike up, be interesting to see if the limiting changes wake it up some more. Have you confirmed anything from your changes yet?

I haven't had a real chance yet. I did look at the area in question in the fuel maps and there is a distinct lack of data in some of those cells so it's likely these limits were functioning as a limit. I did try a 4th gear 100% pull from about 5000rpm and it felt stronger but I'm limited in where I can perform such tests close to home. My 4th gear ETV map isn't that different from stock so I wouldn't expect a huge difference. Hopefully this weekend I can really test it.

@@davidb3925 I’ve been out for a few hours this evening, in my case the Etv limit changes have made no difference. Doing it in the main Etv table works regardless of the limit. Also confirmed by looking back through old data. I was seing 100%tps/100%Etv even with the limits set as stock. My bike is by no means slow to pick up I don’t feel it holds back atal, I’d be happy to share my Etv changes with you if you fancy trying it? I do have a full system tho.
