38:17 Fun lore fact from the wiki about the Electro-priests: They are legally blind because all that electricity they channel through their bodies boils and melts their eyes so they run down the cheeks. Electro-Priests call that "Omnissiah's Tears" and see it (pun intended) as a sacred thing and thus are very grateful for this. So, instead of relying on their eyes to see, they sense electromagnetic signatures of things and living organisms and orient themselves that way, which kinda adds to their creepy/zealotus aesthetics

22:15 fun fact about skitarri, their heads and forearms are the exact same size as the one's on chaos marines. Little bit of kitbashing advice for Iron hands and Iron Warriors. The forearms of a primaris marine are longer than the chaos marine ones by the same length as the last circular piece of armour, meaning that you can simply cut off the skitarri arm, cut off that last circle of the marine arm and attach it instead to the elbow then attach the skiarri arm to it. Skitarri also happen to share the same base size as Cultists and Traitor Guard.

I’m a huge fan of AdMech, and for algorithm purposes I am going to spew some of my headcanon about their designs: I like to imagine that since the Ironstriders are able to be stationary on the tabletop (as in they aren’t required to move in the movement phase) that they are capable of just marching in place. I know lore blurbs contradict this since they have to wrangle them into corrals or onto treadmills for storage, but it’s funny to think of a firing line of big, stompy toy soldier legs. I picture the Archaeopters walking on their stubby legs as a means of taxiing, and that the spokes in their wings are on hinges like fingers to give functions like the control surfaces on regular plane wings. They could pull the spokes in close to dive like a bird. I can picture Onager Dunecrawlers breaking into a sort of gallop where all four legs come off the ground, with them doing this when charging. AdMech vehicles should not be thought of as the stiff, metal boxes you see in other factions and in real life. Most if not all of them are more like artificial bodies that the driver is installed into, often terminally. It would make sense for them to be more organic in their movement. They all have the Skitarii keyword because they are all just big prosthetics attached to a regular Skitarii.

It'd also be interesting that the most mechanical humans would have the most life like movement with their vehicles especially when they don't look alive. It's a cool juxtaposition!

A detail that I find funny about the chicken walkers is that there is a servitor at the front. For magnetizing the Dunecrawler, its decently easy to magnetize the weapons. You can do all of them except 1 by just slapping a magnet at the base of the turret and on the wheel.

I do have some advice for Dunecrawler magnetisation (that doesn't mean magnetising barrels): Every kit comes with three mantlets to attach the guns to. The Neutron and Erad get their own whilst the Icarus and the phosphor share the same, that we can solve later. You get 1 mounting point for the mantlet to attach to the tank itself. There are 3D prints that can make up for this. Get 2 extra mounting points and you can glue up the Erad and Neutron as you please. For the last 2 weapons I have picked the phosphor, treating it as an icarus array main gun when I stick the missile pod on the side (Obviously pick which you think looks coolest). I would recommend magnetising the end cap with the logo on it so you don't have an empty hole when swapping around, or so you could stick the missile pod on your neutron because it's funny. At the end I scrounged the cannons you would use for the Icarus and used them for the extra heavy stubber that the Neutron uses. Better yet you can swap the now 3 extra gun options with different crawlers If you are like me, and didn't magnetise your first one.

If you're talking about 30k and kill team, the former is an entirely separate faction. The latter is a good point on a rules front, but doesn't mean much on a models front, in which they got effectively nothing.
@michaelstevens5712Ай бұрын
@@thomaskamkar5197 I definitely wouldn't consider Mechanicum to be a separate faction, but it isn't something I'd want to argue with someone. If you're a tournament player it 100% doesn't count but if your focus is modelling and lore it 100% does. I was thinking 30k and Imperialis, the latter of which has done the impossible feat of giving Admech an affordable, easily painted army that you can get to the tabletop quickly. Everything they did in the other systems this year was a perfect compliment to what Admech offers in 40k.
@creamgravy1952Ай бұрын
As a beginner collector whose first army is AdMech, I am well aware of the pain and suffering that it entails and I wouldn't have it any other way. The first model I ever assembled was a serberys raider, and I am honored to be bestowed such a challenge from the Omnissiah himself. This faction is the entire reason I fell in love with 40k, and I love everything about them from the indescribably unique aesthetic to their nightmarish philosophy. Every single thing about them is a walking war crime. They're such a joy to put together too, especially thinking up new kitbashes. I'm currently working on a project where I'm adding my spare skitarii parts and mechanical bits to an Exaction Squad kill team to turn them from Arbites into Skitarii Proctors and it's so much fun to see it come together. Some fun facts to finish this off: Taser goads are more like cattle prods built for war than tasers as we think of. They discharge enough energy to fry the target's nervous system and melt organs, then direct it back in to recharge for the next blow. If you were to grind down any Skitarii soldier into its constituent matter, you would find traces of nearly every element known to the tech-priests. Fulgurite electro-priests' staves aren't electrically charged to shock people, they actually do the reverse. Getting hit by one sucks all of the bio-electricity out of your body because obviously the Motive Force is wasted in anything that does not venerate the Omnissiah. The beasts the Serberys Corps rides on aren't entirely mechanical, but built around a vat-grown oversized canid that's cybernetically enhanced until it's unrecognizable in true Mechanicus fashion. The riders then plug themselves into the cybercanids and train until their neural link is near flawless and they can function as basically a single entity.

The Serberys are literally the reason I started collecting and playing 40k, so I feel compelled to share a few extra tidbits about them. While their horses are aesthetically more like dogs, and are referred to as such, they are in fact neither dogs nor horses, but ANOTHER skitarii. Using a fully mechanical steed with that degree of autonomy would be heresy, so naturally they turn their fellow man into cyborg dog monsters. See the little patch of white past the top edge of the face plate? That's his exposed (human) skull. The shoulders and upper arms are human, amputated and replaced above the elbow to form the front legs. A series of ringed braces elongate the spine and make space for a saddle. Like all skitarii, his legs are amputated below the knee and replaced with a specialized limb, in this case the hind legs of the mount. While they aren't as mentally stunted as servitors, they are more heavily controlled than most skitarii, and are given chips that allow the rider to directly command him through a neural link. The more you know!

Might finally be the video that gets me into ad mech, and by that I mean pillaging them for conversions

I love this show so much, I'm so glad I engage with this content! I especially love when it is monetized, seeing an advertisement before one of these episodes really makes me want to buy that product! -Signed, a loyal audio listener

I love these episodes. Just a long episode I really enjoy listening to you guys so longer the better. Speaking of factions you’ve not put in the spotlight. With the new eldar models coming out it would be nice to see one of these with them. Not that I’m biased as an elf lover

My favorite part about admech pieces is when you pick them up all the mechandrites turn into pieces on the floor.

The idea that the dedicated transport literally called a "Dunerider" can't actually ride up dunes because being a hover craft means it is bad with uneven terrain lmao. But also at the same time I can absolutely imagine the admech being so up their own asses that they engineered a vehicle with the expectation of only needing to drive around in city street and road environments.

Engineered? Heretek. We used what we found in the holy STC. You would dare to question the wisdom of golden age humanity? But yes if they were allowed to engineer stuff they would do something like that.

Got sick a couple days ago. JUST AFTER I recovered from the flu. The flesh is definitely weak. At least I can enjoy this podcast about Ad Mech.
