I liked very mutch the videos of Valazquez and Rubens and the way you explaind thinks like the paint you use and the technics the early masters used. I paint also portraits in the style of Rembrandt with use of dark en light zones.

@@LuisBorreroVisualArtist I just started following you this week. Since Friday I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and the one that I thought was an excellent set up with the cameras on you painting on the canvas, your pallet and with the original master painting you were copying of the Rembrandt was exceptional ! I’ll make sure to follow you this Thursday with your live feed. Thank you again🙏

Truly top-notch content, Luis. Really admire your knowledge and clear demonstration of these techniques. I was interested in the comments you made about models. I wonder if you’d consider a video on that subject - how artists make use of models (from life, images or even mocked-up) to compose their works. Regardless, keep up the wonderful work. Un abrazo.

Luis, I found your channel as a recommendation based on what I like. I congratulate you for posting these interesting videos which support what I like the most, oil painting, the classical style. Thank your for the history and information about colors, mediums and brushes. Your work is outstanding and I truly appreciate the time, effort and determination to teach such important method and explaining about how the old masters worked. I will begin watching your videos to continue admiring your work and history. I wish your the best in your career and let’s get this channel growing! Blessings and take care. New subscriber! In your experience what type of medium would you recommend for oil portrait painting? Is 50%-50% gamsol and lindseed oil a good choice? Thanks so much.

Hello Crisalida: Thank you very much for your wonderful feedback and posting. In my experience the best medium to use is water washed sun refined linseed oil thinned out with spike oil of Lavender. To make the paint flow only. I usually don’t use any more medium than I have to. It’s best to prepare your own oil.

It's probably a valuable exercise in trying to emulate the painting methods used in the 17th century, and it's obvious that a lot of research has gone into to this, and such lessons would be of great help, and deserve to be back in the light. I have to quibble though: Video quality might have been recorded OK, but it sure doesn't display at anywhere near the resolution that's watchable. The sound, is slightly less important, but also suffers. The last comment, I'd make is, while there's nothing wrong in being historically true as far as materials are concerned, I don't think one should be purposely using known fugitive paints like ... pretty much any lake, or their modern fugitive replacements (e.g., alizarin crimson).

Respected Sir, this video was fantastic, I have really enjoyed the video. I have a great curiosity to know about Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci's art techniques, specifically about his drawing materials. So Sir for the next time please try to make a video on Leonardo de Ser Piero da Vinci's art techniques and tools. Sir don't or never take my words as a order or a thing which is some thing like that, this is just a genuine request from your student as you have taught me lots thing about art.

If I had to go through the internet and correct all the people who say Flemish technique because they are copying something from that geographical area, I would never leave the house. Dutch painting copy, not even in the realm of Flemish technique.
