Yes, sugar apples are called sweet sop in Jamaica, but they are the same fruit... just different areas of the world call them different names.

I love your videos, thank you so much for sharing. Yes, ackee is best eaten cooked, as suggested, please go buy ackee and salt-fish dish at a Jamaican restaurant. I know a lot of vegans who do eat it raw. That’s right, canistel is like eating dried paste, my least favorite fruit. Sorry guys, that was not a governors plum.

Thanks for watching :) Yea, we know people that eat it raw, so thats why we tried it... not a fan lol Ideally, we would like to eat from our garden without having to cook anything. I enjoy canistel a lot, but I guess some varieties are not good. We had a few touring Lara Farms and they were all delicious... Governor's plum (flacourtia indica) is similar to Rakum (Flacourtia rukam) but yes, they are not the same plant.. We are excited to get to try it.

That’s not Japan raisin tree 😂 the fruit and tree doesn’t match 😂 it looks like wild one
@GonzaGardensАй бұрын
You can see the tree label, it is Japanese Raisin Tree, Hovenia dulcis. It was exactly the same leaf and fruit structure that we anticipated to see for a Japanese Raisin, because we were looking to add it to our garden for a few years. I agree that the varieties may be wild flavors, but the tree is definitely Hovenia dulcis.

@@johngjerry1892 That is interesting. I have never seen a Japanese Raisin Tree (Hovenia dulcis) fruit look other than the ones that we experiences at Fruit and Spice Park. Internet searches all look exactly like what we saw and experienced at the park.

Ackee is supposed to be cooked before eating. Please do not eat it raw. As a Jamaican I can tell you that it tastes great when it’s cooked. 😊 I suggest going to a Jamaican restaurant like Golden Krust and trying it out.

Thanks for the suggestion :) We know people that eat it raw, so we were comfortable eating it at the park.
