In 1963 I was a truck driver working Project Roller Coaster at the Nevada Test Site about 30 miles east of Tonopah. On my route to Las Vegas and Mercury I used to stop and eat at the Northern Cafe next to the Goldfield Hotel. The hotel restaurant still had the tables set with silverware. One of the teamsters I worked with, George, used to own the Goldfield Motel and Gift Shop.

That’s cool. I bet a lot of the places were in better shape back then. I have been reading up on some interesting information about this town.

I just paused the video at 21:52, to tell you how much I appreciate you doing all you do to assemble this video to post and share it with all of us. The cars and trucks really bring back so many memories for me, especially the old Nash's, my Father brought that car home when I was but three years old, I grew to love that old car and I remember being mad at him when he sold it. What memories. I've subbed, left a thumbs up and a tap on the bell, I hope to see more of your videos of Nevada. I hope you have a great day! BTW, I really enjoy the music you have chosen for the background of this video.

Thank You. Definitely a lot of time into the video. I loved this place and am planning a trip back to explore some more. Love hearing your history on this place. That is so neat. I have 2 more Nevada videos I am working. Than will be doing some Death Valley old mining areas. But I will definitely be back to shoot more videos in Nevada.

Thank you for the tour. Saw more of the town I live in watching you do the walking! I moved here four years ago and never really ventured out. The car garden a few times and the other decorations of cars along the hwy. I am sure you know there is also another hotel across from the outdoor museum in the beginning. It has adorable cabin type rooms and a minitures town facade out front. Really nice folks own it. And Dinky is a great place to eat. 😉 Look forward to your next journey.

Just to bring up another bit of trivia, The 'Jim Marsh' who bought the Saloon from the 'Maxgut Estate' is the same Jim Marsh who was an automobile dealer in Las Vegas, Nevada. To bring up more old memories, my motorcycle has been known to be parked in front of the "Santa Fe Saloon" at various times, lol.
@The_Doberlanders_Adventures Жыл бұрын
I will look for your motorcycle next trip out. Do you know why there are all those old cool car parts by the train station ? Was it a wrecking yard ?

@@The_Doberlanders_Adventures , When I was up around there I tried asking, couldn't get any solid info. I don't think the owners want to part with any of them. I wish I could give you a better answer but I can't.

Been through Goldfield several times, like many towns in the west mining was its start and when the mines were played out so to was the town. Goldfield was one of the settings for the 1971 movie "Vanishing Point" with Cleavon Little playing the blind disc jockey "Super Soul". The radio station was in the Goldfield Hotel.

Virginia City Nevada is a cool place I like going there and dressing in my 1880's clothing also Tombstone is awesome my son who is 15 dressed up with me and we walked down the middle of the street wearing Deputy Marshall badges and wearing our replica colts on our sides felt like we wear back in time.

Very cool, I spent some time in the desert last summer on a road trip. I like the places where time seemed to stop. The movie Vanishing Point features a lot of scenery in these kind of places.
@The_Doberlanders_Adventures Жыл бұрын
I do as well. We do a lot of ofc roading to many small little towns. If you look up my video on Warren Idaho that is a really cool place where time has stopped. Town is run off generators.

I watched an episode of "Ghost Adventures" with Zak Bagan, who is now a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, he got permission from the Hotel Owner to spend the night in the Hotel and attempt to communicate with the 'denizens' of the Hotel. Just thought I'd share that with the people who might have missed the show.

@@The_Doberlanders_Adventures , I have to agree with you, I'm a believer in life after death and ghosts, that sort of thing. I could go more in depth about the paranormal but that's getting off topic at this time. If you decide to do another episode I would be obliged to an interview. I have subbed, left a thumbs up, and a tap on the bell, I hope to see more of your videos. Thanks for all you have done to assemble these videos to share with all of us.
