This place is only a few blocks from me. They've been talking about restoring it for years but nothing ever comes of it. Sadly this city has a long history of tearing down some of it's most beautiful buildings but I hope this one gets spared that fate.

I think it should be given to a University and used as a school to learn specific things like cancer study, cures for other types of diseases, so many options. Of course since I don’t own it, that’s easy for me to say.

The City of Hamilton refusing to do anything more than the bare minimum here is appalling and is very close to demolition by neglect. Dundurn Castle has shown that this could be a revenue-generating property if the City would actually take care of it. I am so frustrated seeing the current state of decay. The City needs to sell it to someone who will restore it or actually do the work required. I would be thrilled to see my taxes used this way.

I find it abhorrent that in the years Hamilton has owned Auchmar they have not restored her to her former glory. They need to stop "planning" and start "doing" before it's too late. Canada has far too few historical estates left.
