The Zamboni is a very old (and discontinued) HBD model machine. Parts are very hard to find and a plentiful number of 500 series machines for sale and parts are a lot easier to find. 2:30 I agree it’s surprising it’s still in the building, but nobody seemed to want it. Those pumps you saw at 5:23 are actually the refrigeration system for the ice floor. At 13:55 those black pads were used for arena football. They put them on the hockey dasher boards to add cushioning for the players.

I supervised security for 18 years at the international Hamvention which was held at Hara Arena. I spent so much time there that I won $20 by walking the complex with all the lights off in pitch black. (Keep in mind the property was about 170,00 sq ft) I can confirm that Hara was kept together with spit and bailing wire. They kept EVERYTHING thinking they could repurpose it. They never did and useless crap filled many rooms (like you saw). I remember one incident where they found cases of popcorn buckets from the 70'S and made the temporary staff go through the boxes to throw out the moldy buckets. The ones they used smelled musty BUT as long as they weren't fuzzy, they got used. The only disappointing thing is you didn't document the "blue" rooms under Winterland. You would be amazed with the amount of temporary employees they crammed onto the property for big events. (Hamvention had between 20-50 thousand visitors) And, Oh! How that staff partied!

From Wikipedia; "As of March 2018, the property had been abandoned for over a year-and-a-half, at times vandalized and broken into. In December 2017, PNC Bank foreclosed on the property, seeking to collect on $350,000 owed to the bank. It was reported that many had called Trotwood's government with ideas for the property, which had a list price of $775,000, but anyone seeking to acquire the property would need a "specific plan for the complicated situation of 'well over $1 million' in taxes that are due, and the multiple parcels of land and arena." In April 2018, KZbin video from a self-described "local explorer" illicitly entering the arena showed disrepair and deteriorating conditions. The city of Trotwood had made attempts to secure the property, but with limited success, and it was reported to have hundreds of code violations. On May 2, 2018, it was revealed that the property was purchased by Michael Heitz, a developer based in Louisville, Kentucky. Heitz stated that he had bought the income tax liens from Montgomery County and hoped to close on further liens with the banks later in the week. Heitz stated that his first priority was to clean up the site and secure the property. He is known for purchasing other distressed properties within the area and getting them shovel ready for users. On February 25, 2019, at least three individuals were arrested for breaking into the property in an attempt to steal air conditioning parts. On the night of May 27-28, 2019, the property suffered extensive damage when tornadoes and severe storms moved through the area. The roof and sides of the structure were blown off in several places. In response, Heitz stated that he was cautiously optimistic that the building could be salvaged, but if not, it would have to be demolished. He noted that much of the main arena looked fine and that the metal which had been lost could be replaced and likely needed to be replaced anyway. He also stated that he had recently secured a grant to conduct a phase 2 environmental study of the site, with the possibility of selling the building to another buyer, which would bring new jobs to the area."

Have you ever been caught anywhere by security or the police or run into other spelunkers or homeless? great to see these and other's vids. I watched the Dayton Bombers ECHL hockey team in 94-95. still not sure where their locker room and the visitor's was. there's a lot of dressing rooms for performers. my friend did the camerawork for the games for time warner. he gave me a tape of a couple games. The equipment was difficult to get up the spiral stair case. He has some good stories. like when the representatives for the bosnia peace accord were guests for a hockey game the crew got patted down by their secret service. they didn't banter with each other that game. he had to put cables on the roof in winter. Random notes as I watched (no timecodes): The tall chair on the rink is the hockey goal judge's that would be behind both goals to turn the red light on. The Sand Diego Chicken photo He makes chicken noises. I saw him at a minor league baseball game my friend was the president of the team. It's great you found the ice rink refrigeration room. My friend drove a Zamoboni for a long time once for the Red Wings (not at Hara). I'm going to show him this. the arena seats are more comfortable than they look. they took no care in slapping on the season ticket holder signs lol Too bad they couldn't auction them off. were in too bad of shape rusty and mold and would have to pay soeone to do it anyhow. they auctioned the Hara letters on the outside. They removed the dasher boards prior to demolition to keep them. there's a youtube vid. the concrete crawl space you were in was probably against them. the vid shows designed holes. There was graffitti all over the place prior to demolition. and in places I have no idea how they got that high up. too bad they didn't get caught. Wish I could have been there for their final public open house. It's got to be the most cobbled together place I've seen. But a unique atmosphere. No Where Else but Hara.

I did not explain it well but there is one area where the stadium seats are supported by concrete beams and they have started collapsing. If the building is salvageable it’ll be a lot of money.

Actually 15-20 years ago a number of construction companies do unsolicited bids on knock down Hara Arena one section at a time and rebuilding it. One example is that the electric was so weak that there was a trailer generator that was used to power certain sections to power the AC units.

We got permission so it was a non-issue. Be very careful a fellow explorer just posted a video where people were cooking meth inside and confronted them when they went exploring.
