That's right, the real Japan is in the countryside. And it's even better than Tokyo. From subtropical areas with beautiful coral reefs and clear blue waters to snowy regions with some of the best powder in the world, Japan is full of places to visit. Of course, wherever you go, you are guaranteed to find the cleanest, safest, most hospitable, tastiest food, and most polite people.👍

Great video guys! I've been wanting to see Japan since I was 11 years old. It would be cool to see these smaller, more peaceful villages and the relaxed Japanese way of life.

Great vid! So I'm guessing you guys did some of the "New Golden Route", right? If so - any tips on how to travel with large suitcases in these areas? Well be travelling through Japan for a whole month and the first leg of our journey will be through the Hikariku arch/new golden route, including Takayama, ryokan stays, etc. Would appreciate any help!

Just take them with you! 😄 make sure they are not to large.. in the trains there is plenty of space, as long you can carry them up. During our Kumano Kodo we left them for 5 days in Osaka in a hotel..

That bell thing she is ringing is probably there to let bears know there are people nearby so bears don't get surprised when they suddenly encounter people and attack. I enjoyed the video.

Hida Takayama is the town where the anime movie ``Your Name'' was set! As a result, you can see a lot of foreign tourists. It's a beautiful city, just like Kyoto!

Thinking of doing Tokyo (1-2 days) (flying from USA) to Kyoto (3days) to Takayama (2-3 days) and back to Tokyo. We will only have @ 12 days . Wanted to do a ryokan and possibly gassho . Any suggestions??
@LetsMeetAbroad

3 days Kyoto!? I think if you go that short just do 1 full day Kyoto, maybe 2. Same for Takayama, 1 full day is enough. Fuji is a must as well 😃 And Tokyo we could spend forever haha.

Restaurants and bars in Takayama are suffering from tourist overload. Unfriendly and unwelcoming. Go elsewhere.
