I live in this area, and although there are obviously some very nice locals, it has been utterly spoiled by the influx of entitled wealthy “do you know who I am?” types. Still, the most beautiful place to live 😊 You just need to ignore the dickheads lol

😊😊I'm with you Robin about wild flowers Our grass verges are a little over grown,but the wildlife love them and Mothers with children stop to look with delight...thats as it should be I think.

As it should be. We can't have children growing up not known that the wildflowers are even missing.

we have had the same invasion here on the beautiful and peaceful coast of Maine. Maine was a quiet and conservative place 50 years ago with fishermen and farmers living in harmony with wealthy summer folk who were only here July and August for "The Season". The elites have invaded tearing down beautiful old estates and putting up modern mansions, bringing their city ideals with them as well. Driving up taxes for families that have been here since they settled here from England in the 1600's, my ancestors were some of these people. The attitude of entitlement is palpable. IT's been hard to watch this beautiful state change so much in my lifetime. In addition we also have "the newcomers" from the southern border of the USA ( all 75,000 and another 75,000 to come in a state of just over 1 million people) that the current administration has shipped and paid for all over the USA. The world is changing fast. Love your videos and you too!! Janet Robinson

They may be rich around there, but they don't necessarily put that money into local amenities. I did an event at the village hall and I kid you not, the organisers had to keep putting £1 coins into a meter to operate the electricity!

Well done. Put me in mind of some of what's happening in some of our American states -- Vermont, Montana -- where internet makes possible the questionable marriage of old farming and new money.

How did these locations get their names? How did the Cotswold get it's name? Chipping Norton is a very interesting name for sure!
@infidelcastro51294 ай бұрын
Chipping = Market town. Norton = In the north (of the Cotswolds) 😊
@DefinitelyAPotato4 ай бұрын
The Cotswolds are plural. There are a couple of ideas for the origin of the name. A wold is a hill, and there are many hills. The Cotswolds would therefore mean "sheep enclosures in the hills" or something too that effect. But it may also may come from an Old English personal name, like "Cod's-wold", from Codesuualt, or the high open land of someone called Cod. And as below, chipping means market, and norton literally means "north town". Kingham derives from the old English Caningeham, or Keingeham, from "the ham (homestead) of Caega's people".

What a shame that they've cut out all the flowers. When will people get into their heads that nature is not only needed, but (in my own opinion) much better looking? I'm tired of neat lawns and weedkiller.
