Hi Paul Firstly big apologies for our tardiness we are now back from our Xplorations of the Picos de Europa and are doing KZbin catch up on video watching! Loving this what a fabulous area! Love all the historic buildings and then the brightly coloured painted doors and windows! The bright Barbie pink Fiat 500 tickled us next to those historic remains! Lovely narration in our favourite Northern accent! Loved you on that giant chair of course you had to check it out! What a fabulous market and yay to free parking 😂 sold! Then a lovely forest and lakeside walk, tragic about the house lost to a fire! And you can visualise that jetty being used back in the day! We did enjoy these Xplorations 👍❤️

Hi Nick n Jill, I hope you had a great trip. I'd say enjoying your trip comes first before watching any videos. That's my motto when away anyway. I also recently took a month off from all things KZbin and enjoyed it a bit too much. Kirkcudbright was quite the gem of a place with lots of history. It's actually the first time I had heard of it and it seems the masses haven't heard of it either. Those Barbie cars get everywhere ha ha. I thought you would approve of the free parking and this town had it in abundance. The walk around St Mary's Isle was very hermit friendly and seemed to have a lot of history in itself. Thank you very much for watching. Enjoy the rest of your week 👍🙂Paul

Hi Paul. Really enjoyed this video. Have not heard of the town. But it certainly looks a great place to wander around. Good to see a working harbour. Love all the houses and you can see they are cared for. Such a shame the church and the castle were closed. Would have been interesting to see inside. Quiet looking high street. Lots of great history here. Great seeing everyone out enjoying the market and free parking is always a good thing. A great tour mate. Really enjoyed. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️

Hi Watto, I'd not heard of this town before I ventured into the area. I had to learn how to pronounce it too. I hope I got it right ha ha. Kirkcudbright is a smashing little town full of history. It seems a lot of castles in Scotland are closed for repair at the moment. They don't seem in too much of a hurry to complete the work either. Kickcudbright was quite a peaceful place until you hit the hustle and bustle of the market. Free parking is a unique thing these days. I parked my car in the main car park and expected to pay. Most councils fleece as much as they can these days without thinking of the negative impact that might have. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul

I'd no idea that so many scallops were landed here !, My absolute favourite food but I'd never get through that lot even if I did retire here haha Well seems I'm too young to qualify for that anyway ! After watching this I feel quite ashamed that my main reason for visiting this fabulous little town in the past was for the most wonderful chippy that had monkfish & squid on the menu !, sadly closed last time I visited so had to make do with eating at the Selkirk Arms. You really did a lot of research here with so many historic facts. My Scottish friends might quibble slightly over your pronunciation of Kirkcudbright , but to be honest it's pretty damn close & could have been much much worse so well done 😊 Lucky you got to visit when the Spring Fling was on & the market too looked amazing. If you get the chance come back again when it's the Riding of the Marches ... A Border Town thing .. Haha that chair really suited you...Great video Paul showing that this little town has so much to offer

Well I had a bit of a wander round and it was quite the gem of a place that the masses don't seem to have found yet. I wasn't 100% sure whether I had nailed the pronunciation of Kirkcudbright but then someone who used to be local watched the video and confirmed it was wrong. Kirkcudbright does have a lot of history for such a small town and also had 3 different castles. I seemed to land lucky with the Spring Fling and the farmers market being on when I visited. I'm glad you enjoyed the explore and some of things you have been missing on your visits tho I didn't spot the chippy ha ha. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍

Hello HHT. Thanks for a great video. We are going up to the area in our caravan next week and your video gave a a good idea of what to expect. It’s VERY refreshing to find a vlogger that does not want to be the star of the show. Usually all you see is the vlogger talking at you with their face centre frame instead of the town/city or caravan park they purportedly are showing you. Cheers 😊 keep Em coming

Thanks for showing me how this place is pronounced Paul, I've only ever seen it written down. Looks like a nice town, can see why people retire there. Hi Matt, well I'm not sure I totally nailed the pronunciation but it's a darn sight better than what I would have first attempted 😂 The town was pretty peaceful until you hit the farmers market which seemed to sell quite the array of goods. I only saw 2 people on St Mary's Isle and that was at the very start and the very end. I'd say it would be a great place for a wild camp. I thought I'd kick off my comeback with a full narration video. The ugly mush will be back on the next one tho 😂 Thanks for watching 🙂

Fascinating place Paul Love the pronunciation- never realised that was how you say it. Never visited there but it looks a beautiful little place. The harbour is pretty and it’s interesting that so many fishing boats are still based there. The Castle must have had a commanding position across the estuary and fascinating to see that an original castle is in a different place. Must be u usual that - maybe because the estuary had sorted up a bit at some stage? Enjoyed the final walk - very beautiful. Hope you’re having a good week mate 👍👍👍

Hi Dave, yeah I had to research that name before I left and then the lady at the place I was staying also said it. I'm not sure I completely nailed it but it was a lot better than what I would have attempted without knowing. It sounds like Kirkcudbright had possibly 3 different castles at differing times. A tad unusual I would say for quite a small town. The walk around St Mary's Isle was very hermit friendly and didn't see a soul except at the very start and very end. I'm glad you enjoyed the explore. Thank you very much for watching. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week 🙂👍Paul

hey, there's my favorite hermit! i noticed you didn't greet the crows we could hear. perhaps off camera? always gotta say "ho crows." i liked the colorful houses. i feel like i did a puzzle once that had some of these doorways. look at you chatting away with people. did you know the spring fling was happening when you booked your trip? loved seeing the farmer's market and st mary's isle (SO green and peaceful!), but my favorite was you in the the throne. 😁 this was a beautiful place to visit. how far is this place from your home? 🛴❤

Hi Anne, do you know many hermits ha ha. Those crows weren't half making a racket and lots of nests in those tree tops. The houses there were pretty unique and colourful. I'm quite sociable for a hermit. You might be surprised at how much so when I want to be. I heard about the Spring Fling from the lady whose B&B I was staying at. I would have took some video of inside of some of the art studios but they were mostly cramped and full of people. I thought the event was worth a mention tho. St Mary's Isle was a lot more peaceful than I expected and had to go off track a bit to get the better views. Still worth a walk tho and a lot flatter than I'm used to. I had to sit on Odin's throne. It was a big chair. Kirkcudbright is about 3 hours drive from where I live. I did venture further from home onto a couple of the Scottish islands too on this trip where my ugly mug will appear on some of those videos 😂Thank you very much for watching.
