You will see Magnus Cathedral ruins from about 1300, Saint Olav's Church which is the oldest still used church of the Faroes dating from the 12th century, and Kirkjubøgarður, which is a farmhouse that has been continuously occupied by the same Faroese family for 17 generations. Roykstovan is the oldest part of the house and is one of the oldest still inhabited wooden houses in the world.

Yes the Faero Islands are beautiful. It is only a little bit warmer in Denmark. But it will Cost ca the same to go to the mediteranian and the warmth as to go to the faroe islands

It was super hot in Copenhagen when I was there last summer and then traveled to Greenland from Copenhagen and faced almost freezing weather in Ilulissat. It does not get that cold in the Faroe Islands and it never gets hot/warm. The only problem there is the wind and the lack of sunshine. It took me almost 1 week to realize that I had to deal with the wind of the Faroe Islands. I am actually tempted to visit some of Mediterranean Islands this Fall. The weather is decent during that time.

Interestingly, the ruined church was not finished. So they kept using the other one which is a little older. The old wooden house is the so-called 'king's peasant farm'. Note how the foundations are bigger than the present house because it used to be bigger. Only a little part of the present wood structure is medieval, the 'roykstova', as you rightly pointed out. As far as I know, what constitutes the 'museum' is a tour inside the roykstova ('smoke room') but I think you have to make an appointment with the current 'king's peasant'. By the way, his twin brother, an artist, made the glass ornaments in the churchyard gate. The ferry goes to the closest of the three islands you see across the strait, called Hestur ('Horse') 🙂

I could not find any info about this village. I tried to get more information from the tourist information office in Torshavn but they said they don’t know much about it. Thank you for all the info you provided. It is helpful to the new viewers.

no trees there? I like the turf roofed houses, must be very common there? I'm guessing it's protection from the climate?

Trees can't grow in the Faroe Islands because of the harsh weather/climate. The same issue for Iceland and Greenland too.

Thanks. I stopped using a handle since Japan trip. If you decide not to use a handle, make sure you don't block the camera mic when holding the camera with your hand during filming.
