@kathleenjovanov794 жыл бұрын
It's as authentic as it gets because it's remained that way since antiquity except for the new things everything that there is old and broken down and it is from antiquity and that's where Alexander the Great is from so I get Greece 🇬🇷 with the name thing but where Macedonia 🇲🇰 is is Macedon was in antiquity just my opinion. The people over there are so friendly and welcoming and the food is fantastic

@@kathleenjovanov79 I thought Alexander the Great was born in a place call Pella within today's Greek borders. Vergina is another ancient Macedon capital in Macedonia, GR.

@HK ok then Macedonia FYROM flag 🇲🇰 is literally the Vergina sun, am I wrong?
@HK-pp9ig2 жыл бұрын
@@kathleenjovanov79 Nope, you are not wrong, the Macedonian flag is the Vergina Sun! Republic of NM was forced by Greek government to alter the flag as Greece does not allow NM to appropriate any heritage from Ancient Macedonia which is considered part of Hellenic/Greek cultural and historical heritage. The problem with NM is that people there speak a Slavic language, akin to Bulgarian and Serbian, but claim to be Macedonian. I would agree if the Slavic part and the Greek part would join under one Macedonian state; but then you'd have problems with the language... I respect people from NM and have friends from NM and Albania; some of them say they are Macedonian and some say they are Bulgarian. Many use the Bulgarian EU membership for passport privileges. I consider the concept of Macedonia as part of the Hellenistic culture; and the state of North Macedonia as part of South Slavic culture. I have a Greek/Macedonian co-worker who does not accept the concept of people from Skopje calling themselves Macedonian; but I have a close friend from Monastir/Bitola who says for sure he is Macedonian and the fact that he speaks Bulgarian does not take his Macedonian heritage away. He said that Macedonians in NM should treat Albanian people there better and with dignity, and he says NM would not exist without the support of the Albanian minority in NM. Pozdrav.
@ImpetusOmnipotens2 жыл бұрын
@@HK-pp9ig Okay, first of all while Pella may be in the borders of today's Greece it was not that way always, that part used to be in Macedonia until 1913 when Macedonia was divided. Are you familiar with the Bucharest accord? If not, look it up. Second, Alexander was Macedonian and not Greek, the Hellenistic world does not belong to the Greeks. Macedonia has a continued existence here for over two thousand years, and we are Macedonians as we have always been. Our language is not alien from the Ancient Macedonian it is just an evolved form. The middle text on the rosetta stone is Ancient Macedonian and a testament to that. The fact that we are a tribe that came from the Carpartian mountains is lie, we are the natives of that region, if anyone is the settler is the Greeks. There are still many Macedonians and those of Macedonian heritage that live in what is today the Greek province of Macedonia, which used to be called Aegean Macedonia. They still speak our language and cherish our customs. Cheers.

During our visits to Macedonia we visit diferent parts of the country as literarly every city and vilage has a story to tell. On our last visit we visited Kratovo, Kuklica, Kokino and the birth place of my father Kriva Palanka. My 9 year old daughter loved it, especialy all the history and the legends about Kuklica, Rada`s bridge and so on. When she came back she did a show and tell in her school and for the whole leson she spoke about Kratovo (she does this after every visit). She is making a guide book about the places and history of the places that she has visited so far. She is giving her current copy to her Deputy principal as she is visiting Macedonia this summer for two weeks.

16:30 st. George from Kratovo was a very beautiful boy and talented jewelry artist. Under Ottoman Rule, the Turks were searching for smart and beautiful boys for their daughters and they were converting them into Islam(those people were called ‘Janicari’). They basically offered everything to st. George- money, women, everything if only he rejected his faith in Christ. He didnt do it, but on the contrary he was very educated and he was shaming them instead telling how Mohammed is false prophet. They tried to burn him alive but his body wouldnt burn.

Prelepo! In koliko je še drugih lokacij: Kokino, Cocev Kamen, Vražji Kamen, Vražji zid, Ovče Pole,.Kuklica Bila Zora... vse to sem izvedel, ko sem gledal prispevke Domagoja Nikolića, Jovice Stankovskog, Miška Đukića, Semirja Osmanagića. Kdo ve, kaj vse še skriva Makedonija, videl sem prispevek o mnogih opuščenih rudnikih. Kdo ve, koliko so v resnici stari.

The town of Ohrid and the Ohrid lake is by far the best place to visit in N. Macedonia. Kratovo is authentic only in its destroyed authenticity. I could imagine how great it must have looked like before all the low standard new structures and subpar additions in the last several decades. It is a peek into backward culture and poverty of people barely surviving and not being able to care for culture, architecture, authenticity and beauty. It could be an adventure only for those fed up with highly developed western civilization.

But by they way, the other border with the main road going from Thessaloniki to Skopje should be always open, right? I hope so because.. I'll have to cross from Greek to North Macedonia in 4 days :D

No idea of the car rental company unfortunately, this was four years ago. And also not sure about the border crossings. This video was filmed in 2020 when the rest of Europe was closed to Americans due to Covid, so I couldn't cross over to Greece then. I flew from Skopje to Turkey. Depopulated because there was no jobs. There are 3 million in USA from Serbia. I think the same from Croatia. Especially the case in inland Croatia in the central portion.

@@saratemp790 The problem in Croatia is the leadership. After the 1990s war there was no lustration, so the offspring of the former Yugoslav leaders have managed to slowly come back in power, protecting their own & also mismanaging the country. True, Croatian agriculture could be booming if its present leaders showed interest in the average citizen & knew how to manage the country. There is a movement of average citizens who are working to bring corruption to light. On the other hand, there is a mass exodus of people leaving Croatia. Strange but sadly true: if you were a defender of Croatia when it was being attacked by the Yugoslav army & its supporters, you & your family experience continual discrimination so entire families are leaving the country. It is a demographic crisis.
