Bless you Molly, I found first year SO hard but I'm in second year now and loving it. It is so hard to move away from home but you're doing so well. Keep looking after yourself, and don't apologise for how you're feeling. You have so many people who love you and will support you whatever you do!

You’ll figure it out sooner or later, I respect you for not dropping out immediately and actually giving it a try despite how you’re not that happy with it. It’s good that you’re able to talk about it with people, I hope things start to make sense to you soon ✨

Honestly I'm not much older than you but I'm old enough to be able to tell you that having an 'end goal' is not as important as you think. I have a friend who does course after course just for knowledge and experience without a set goal in mind for a long term career. Life is full of new experiences and opportunities, changing your mind, or not knowing what you want to do is just an opportunity to do different things and have an adventure along the way to finding out. And whether you do or not doesn't really matter in the fact that you don't really have to. Have multiple goals and do lots of different things in any/as many fields as you WANT. Just have as much fun as you can and know whatever you do is adding more experience for the future and in no way is it going to be a WRONG choice!

Coming from someone who stuck it out for the entire first year, if you don’t feel like it is for you please listen to your gut. I should have put myself and my mental health first but I didn’t. In stead I put first the thought of feeling like a ‘failure’ for dropping out and the disappointment I would cause my family. I completed my first year and transferred home, I actually took a year out after my first year because that’s how much my mental health deteriorated forcing myself to stay in a place I hated. I’m now at a local university and finishing my final year and in a much, much better place! :)

The question you have to ask yourself is if you could stay at home and still do your course would you be happier? This will tell you if it’s the course or moving from home. I’m 34 and a medical student at Leeds and I still live at home. I tried to live away and I didn’t like it so moved back. Even though I have lived in London and Nottingham for a year.

I really wouldn’t worry about going home. You do what you need to do to get through it. I went home every weekend in first year and it got my through. Now I live at home, commute to uni and I LOVE IT. Couldn’t have done it without because I needed to get away from everything. I cried every time I left for 4 months but then it just stopped? I wasn’t home sick either just the whole unvironment and uncertainty I needed a break from. You do you 💖

College. University, days starts your journeys of self discovery. You will see your real strength. Leeds has lots of places to go and see. Such as Leeds market day on Thursday. You could join other clubs and societies. Such as badminton. Or even join in other culture society. Harrogate is close by etc Stepping out of the comfort zone, once in a while is a good thing Have fun at college. The days will pass by very fast

I’ve been watching your vlogs for a couple of years, and it’s so strange that we’ve now both moved to Leeds for uni at the same time. I keep recognizing the places you go and the event at church and I actually know the places you talk about for once! About homesickness though, I know exactly how you feel. I absolutely hated it when I first moved away from home (during sixth form) and now that I’ve moved out again I miss home so much. I’m enjoying myself and I love it, but I’m also counting down the days until my parents come to visit (27 days to go, yayyy). Crossing my fingers that it’ll eventually get better for the both of us🤞🏻🤞🏻 If you’d ever like to go for a coffee or a drink, I’d love to meet up! I know this is a bit weird hahah but I just know exactly how you feel and I’m feeling it too

Your vlogs from uni remind me SO much of me when I went to Bournemouth in 2012. I hated it (our rooms look exactly the same too). I stuck it out till November but decided it was best for me to leave. Do what is best for you! So glad you’ve had a better a week!!! Xx

I’ve been wanting to comment on your blogs for a while because I know EXACTLY how you felt moving into first year. I’m from NZ so I moved into my first year accommodation in March and I’m still adjusting to it. I cried almost everyday for the first couple of weeks cos I missed my friends and family so much but the new people I met have become my new family and it’s so crazy to think that if I stayed at home I would never have met them and I wouldn’t have grown as much as I have this year. I just want to let you know that it does get easier and it’s so worth it so keep pushing because you’re going to do amazing things ❤️ Also in NZ we call it going to town not clubbing :)

Honestly Molly my first year sucked too. I had horrible flatmates and was Home every weekend. I’m now in my third year but one thing I regret was not removing myself from the situation and moving to another flat, something which might help you if you feel unsettled? Good luck with everything, do what’s right for you ☺️

I moved an hour away from Stirling to Dundee for uni, I can assure you it will get better! I literally understand every single bit of what you are feeling and saying but I find if I make a schedule of what I’m doing each hour of each day I feel busier and don’t think about it as much💕💕

I felt the exact same when I started Uni, I ended up going home every weekend for the first couple of weeks and looking back I now think how much I had missed out on. Keeping yourself busy is the best advice till you start feeling better about being away. I ended up commuting then every day instead and I often think how I regret not living the ‘normal’ student life but in the moment it wasn’t for me! Personally you’re doing fab and the home sickness if definitely one thing you never get prepared for! Keep going girl!! Xx

I went home a lot in my first few years of uni to see my family/boyfriend/dog and I got a lot of comments from people about why which really bothered me, but I learnt that you have to do what’s best for you and if you want to go home then go! It’s so much better than staying at uni to make other people happy, and also there’s nothing better than that feeling of getting home to a little puppy whose so excited to see you 😊 Do what makes you happy and don’t let other people dictate how you live your life! X

I totally understand the feeling of not knowing why you're doing the course but I promise your course is whats best for you because its the one in which helps you realise what you love the most and decide whether the area of art is what you want to do. Everyone feels like that, hence why they do that course instead of jumping straight into a degree.

Girl keep doing what your doing! You've made a great start and i know its difficult. Ive just started university this year after my gap year and chose not to move out. Just remember that you can leave if you want to and no one would think any less of you! You could always start again next year, you can go to uni at any time. But you seem to be doing so well, so just keep at it and you'll soon know if its right for you or not. XX

Referring to day 1 instead of saying ‘clubbing’ or ‘out’ I say ‘out out’. Going out is like going to see friends (no drinks involved) , popping out is like going to the shops and out out is what we use in Cardiff as slang for clubbing
