Leongatha looks a really pleasant, spacious little town. I enjoyed hearing the story of Lenny and his pony making that trip to Sydney. Quite a trek. We always are interested to see the Mechanics Institutes as Robert was manager of the Nottingham Mechanics for 33 years prior to his retirement 4 years ago. Another interesting walk through a Victorian town. Thanks guys. Robert & Ivor.

Many of the Victorian Town built their Mechanics Institutes during the Gold Rush of the 1850's as the towns grew many of the earlier buildings were replaced with permanent structures. My great grandparents had a farm in leongatha around the early 1900's, some of my relatives/ancestors were born there. There was a large bush fire around the early 1900s and they survived by sitting in a creek, the house burned down. They left Victoria soon after that and moved to NZ and farmed there. Thanks for the tour.

Just today I had to go to Marngoneet correctional facility at Lara, I’m there till Friday finishing off some plaster cutouts, like fifty lol, I should be done by Friday and then a long weekend thanks for my RDO, it’s the drive getting to Lara that’s a pain in the proverbial lol, Hope to be back in the city on Tuesday, unfortunately I’m the only one in the company that can do things most people haven’t got a clue about. So I get thrown around to finish things, but I know I’ve got a job security lol. Looking forward to going to the new Footscray hospital, 5 years worth of work will see me just about to retirement.

A town I had not heard of before Jojo but certainly a beautiful one, the story about the young lad Lennie riding his pony Ginger all the way to the Harbour Bridge is a cracker, ... good to see Ruby out enjoying the day, and yes you definitely need to start the day with a coffee :)

Jojo Lyons 😂 It has been yonks since I've been to Leongatha. Another really cute little Victorian town. I didn't know Leongatha was an indigenous name. It seems remarkable to me that even discussing the renaming of some cities and towns in Oz to the original aboriginal names is controversial since so many regional towns already have indigenous names.
