Welcome back familia! I'm with the whole crew...Kasen, Rowan, and my Filipino husband behind the camera, Brian. We're heading to the province of Leyte for some exciting adventures. However, this is not our typical vacation/excursion trip. We are here to support our friends ‪@mamayanavlog‬ for some important project that they're working on. I'm playing "yaya" (nanny) for the trip while everyone gets to do some fun stuff! We obviously ate some Filipino foods...after all we are in Philippines! There was a bit of sinigang na hipon and bangus, and more! It was just exciting to see how the community has grown since being hit with super typhoon Yolanda 10 years ago. It's so amazing to see people's resilience and perseverance...such an inspiration!

It's more fun in the Philippines because of the country's diversity from foods, culture and the natural sceneries. In every provinces and places have different beauty to offer so enjoy maybe in some province is not the same from some rich province but the simplicity of nature's beauty will warm up your heart.

I am so amazed how you and your boys have assimilated so quickly into the Filipino culture. Your prior exposure to the Filipino way in the US surely helped; thus, this deep-dive came easy. Was in Tacloban a week before that biggest supertyphoon hit Leyte. You mentioned mental health. The disaster that happened really took its toll on the sanity of the inhabitants. Despite that, they picked up the remaining pieces of their lives and strived to move on, even if they still grieve to this very day.

Yeah, we learned how devastating it was for so many people. We made sure to say prayers for everyone affected 🙏🏼

I was a Leyteanon (Citizen of Leyte). And I was only a kid that time. Many reports of people having mental health problems came like a breeze. Many of the people who were reported to have been going around the night and scaring people were people whose families were well... Taken by the storm. It was a really devastating one. (That flashback aside Hotel XYZ is the BOMB! My family and I never checked in there but we do eat at their restaurant and they're all good!)

In 1975 or 1976, I worked on the McArthur Park where McArthur landed as an engineer. I left before the bas relief and the statues wers installed because the sculptor could not finish. It was Imelda Marcos project. It's nice to see it theough your vlog

I suggest that since you guys are roaming around the country, feature every minor basilica catholic church in every province you visit. I believe there are 16 or more basilica around the country that was built by the Spanish and these churches were preserve. Good to know that your boys are adopting local way of life. XYZ is in downtown Tacloban, not in Samar. Samar is different from Leyte, they're 2 different provinces but they're from the same region. These 2 are connected with the famous San Juanico bridge.
