London Underground equivalent to the Times Square Grand Central shuttle. One thing that sets them apart from the central line versions they were originally built as class 482 by British Rail however their central line versions are always on ATO

Been on it a few times. iirc we'd gotten a train into Waterloo East and then headed over the footbridge to Waterloo (the main station). We headed down to the Underground and got the W&C aka "The Drain Train" to Bank and then headed around to the DLR. At the time in Bank Station you'd pass by an old TBM cutter head when walking around from the W&C to the DLR.

Much like the crosstown shuttle on 42 Street.

Originally the brainchild of The London & South Western Railway. During it's time it was owned by four companies. To begin it was The LSWR from around 1899 until 1923 to Southern Railway from 1923-1948 to British Railways from 1948-1994 and finally to London Underground since 1994. And since the conversion of The East London Line to London Overground in 2010 the shortest self contained line on the whole LUL network. That said an old Waterloo & City Tube car has been preserved by The National Railway Museum in York. If you ever find yourself in York DJ i highly recommend a visit to The NRM.

With The Victoria Line while it is mostly underground yes but Northumberland Park Depot where The Victoria Line trains are maintained is above ground. The branch for the depot diverges at Seven Sisters Station.

The Waterloo & City used to have a "train lift" that was used to get the trains to the surface for heavy maintenance. They was removed as the former Eurostar terminal was built on the site. They now have to use a crane to get stock in and out.

The depot isn't part of the line, nor are sidings or crossovers.
