So good that there are land owners out there who spend the time to preserve the past, instead of just burying it. That last position definitely looks like it started life as a Flak site, but has been through a couple of conversions, possibly for a rangefinder, and then later a radar unit. Such a complex location would probably have both by the war's end. Cannot wait to see what else you have found at this amazing location. Cheers, and Stay Well!

Another outstanding find. You are correct it is nice to see people maintaining the historical place for people to visit. Interesting casting in the entrance of the 1st bunker. It is unfortunate the trench caved in but free stacked stone will due that if you vertical. I love the use of spent 20mm cartridges for handles. Great area stay safe. Do not let EE run you to ragged.

Really enjoyed visiting this location again. The area hasn’t been vandalized like some of the other locations you visit. The last flak position was unusual looking compared to others we have seen. The circle of rocks around the gun itself was different. Probably used what they could to build this location.

@sampointau3 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing they used the rivetted sheet metal cooling baths for the 20mm flak positions there. The area that appears like an open seat in each position is around the size for them. Those type of cooling baths were used in the far northern and heavily snow bound areas as the normal concrete recessed baths would've frozen solid. Normally left empty in winter they would either be left with snow in them or turned upside down when not in use then tipped upright and filled with water from buckets and snow when in operation.

Beautiful location. Seeing the rock slide just shows how dangerous some of these locations can be. Wondering if some of the rocks were placed there by soldiers after the construction of the bunkers to give them more protection. I would have thought they would have used concrete to secure the rocks together.

Another great video. I love to see those fortifications like that because you are never really sure there purpose which makes you wonder more. But also watching this video on the way home from st Augustine Florida where poncedeleon landed and going to the first settlements of the new world but also learned some new history that there was a German uboat in st Augustine that torpedoed a merchant vessel and the lighthouse there was used as a lookout for German uboats in the harbor. But anyways have a great one history hunter.

Excellent Dad tactics- a swift kick to EE's butt should keep him in line. Nice relaxing music during the intro. What an incredible view from that location. Would have just loved to struggle up the hill with you & EE. Yes, must have been an omen with the propeller aircraft flying overhead. Thanks for the pic of the 20mm Flak gun so we can envision what it might look like. That sure was a huge Regelbau German bunker with a huge network of running trenches. And yes we do wish we could have went down in the trenches with you. Very effective camouflage. Oh not spiders 😬! Be brave HH. A shame that entrance was closed off with rocks. History hunting can definitely be dangerous, so continue to be careful. What a find locating the 20mm cartridges. Very resourceful using them as handles. Maybe they did have bonfires there roasting sausages and marshmallows 😋. So many more structures to see on that location. Will anxiously wait for P2. Thanks HH & EE. Stay safe, stay healthy.
