I'm starting to understand why Mustafa always thinks the greatest stuff comes from his village. He made everything in the village with help from his family. Why wouldn't he be proud of his work?

No wonder Mustafa distrusts strange food--he literally grows every single thing he eats, it would seem. He knows 100% what is in his food, because he's the one who planted it. And given the issues of carcinogens and other chemicals in processed food, he's not exactly wrong to be concerned, either. As others have said, it is a beautiful village, one to be proud of.

I wish that I could smell along with the video. I grew up in the US on a family farm and the way the fields smell in the sun on a hot still day is just amazing. I can still smell a corn field from a long ways away (also I am allergic to corn and it makes me sneeze). I love the smell of wheat growing and alfalfa and the garden vegetables.

I absolutely love his crops. I haven't seen wheat like that for quite some time. It is tall, obviously meant for more than just the grain. I would guess that they use it for straw, that is probably used in some of their building construction. There are obviously so many hours and years worth of hard work involved for Mustafa to be able to plant such nice and healthy things. I can see why he values the simple things. Mustafa actually reminds me of my grandfather because, he valued a simple life, hard work, good things to eat and most importantly the inner and outward peace afforded to a farmer.

I'm originally from the southwestern US. There is a simular problem there with flash floods. Instead of flood walls, it became common practice to dig artificial barrancas, or flood control channels, as they are called. Maybe a more economical solution would be to hire a backhoe excavator and dig a flood control channel past his land?

How would they get the backhoe in? If you watch the earlier videos, this is a remote location and there are no roads.
@tlspud
@tlspud 2 жыл бұрын
@@alphabetsoup6681 Great question. Having seen the earlier travel videos, I can tell you it would be extremely difficult. However, it is possible. Those mountain roads are maintained by heavy equipment and it is possible, admittedly slowly, to transport heavy loads over even more difficult places. The real question is the economics behind it. It would have to be a collaborative project, for sure. And, as @Shakeel Ahmed, said earlier, you could create a reservoir that could serve the much broader community. Even if it would be impractical by modern mechanical means, oxen and men with shovels could do it, given enough labor resources.

Not sure that I'd call it a village, nor even a hamlet - too small and few in people - it seems to be more of a homestead - a place where only Mustafa and his extended family reside. Can see why he only likes pure stuff given that all his resources come from nature that he manages and harvests himself. He seems to be a lot more lively at home than in the studio, I think he prefers his creature comforts to being surrounded by lights and cameras.

@eric3529

I feel as though he's definitely on the wealthy side, in terms of people who live in rural Pakistan (not that I'm anywhere near an expert). While many things may be cheaper in "poorer" countries, it's not as if some guy in his village is making and installing all of those solar panels. They would probably have to cost as much as they do for people who purchase them in Western countries, and he would need "city folk" electricians to install them. I'd say he's definitely "wealthy" in terms of the region he lives in.
@asharali7235

@@eric3529 while he does seem rich given the amount of crops he’s been growing, solar panel shouldn’t be the parameter to judge that.
