I'm speechless! That is a L-O-N-G way to travel for not only the videos, but for everyday life necessities. Seeing how far Mama Mustafa has to travel makes me even more grateful for everything that comes with ease here in America.

Are you kidding, everything in America is super far apart like this. Only difference is you probably drive a huge air conditioned SUV.
@InvestigatingDavidCrowley
@InvestigatingDavidCrowley 2 жыл бұрын
@@edgarburlyman738 LOL That's funny!!!! Um, no, no huge air conditioned SUV. Small car, very uncomfortable, and no, things are NOT 5 hours apart.

@@InvestigatingDavidCrowley Average commute is 45 minutes and that's EVERY DAY of the week. Mustafa's trip could probably be 2 hours if they built an 8-lane superhighway like the ones here but somehow I don't think he'd want that, 100k people dying in wrecks every year, countless animals and it's impossible to walk or ride a horse on them.
@InvestigatingDavidCrowley
@InvestigatingDavidCrowley 2 жыл бұрын
@@edgarburlyman738 Average commute is also done in a city where the time spent driving is due to traffic. That's a far cry from having to drive for five hours, in a very slow manner due to terrain. The ease in which we are able to travel is a luxury compared to what the villagers where Mustafa lives has to use. We are BEYOND blessed here in America. Life, comparatively speaking, is easy. We have paved roads, we have grocery stores that sell just about everything our hearts could want, and we have places to just stop and eat whenever we want...or, or we can order food to be delivered. Yes, we do have it way easier here, there's not even a comparison.
@edgarburlyman738
@edgarburlyman738 2 жыл бұрын
@@InvestigatingDavidCrowley Driving in traffic is the WORST. I'd much rather drive slow over terrain, or fast on a highway. "everything our hearts could want" "whenever we want" Sure, if you live in a big city and have unlimited money it is like that.

Yes indeed. There is lot of distance to travel for Mustafa. We just showed part of it. After crossing these mountains and arriving in the near by town he has to take another bus and then travel for additional 8 hours to reach Karachi (the metropolitan city of Pakistan), where we shoot our videos.

Watching this video again I realize again how much mama Mustafa has to go through to get to Karachi just to share with us all. It's no wonder he has no kind words for modernity when he's so far from it yet he and his family exist! His comments about healthy living and eating I think stem from being so remote that one cannot expect to make it to a hospital for medical issues. That you have to take care of yourself to avoid that at all cost because hospital care is not realistic. Just like my tribal people of south Pacific we make medicines from the plants around us. And our surroundings are absolutely beautiful especially when untouched by "civilization".

I've noticed that a lot of buildings in these videos are described as being made of mud. This makes me very curious, because I don't know much about construction but of course I know you can't build a stable structure out of just dirt and water, so of course there's a process involved that might be interesting not just to me hopefully to other viewers. I wonder if you might consider making a video or series of videos showing how these buildings are put together, and also helping viewers understand why they must be built that way. I live in the US, so most buildings have a concrete foundation and a wood frame, which is then covered in drywall, which is like a mixture of gypsum, cement, and other things. Drywall is not very strong, so it's really all about the wooden frame. From watching other videos on this channel, it seems that this area is not suitable for growing wood. Either there's not enough rainfall for it or the soil doesn't hold the water. And of course we see in this video that there's no easy way to transport vast amounts of lumber in. There's no choice, it seems, but to make structures out of other materials. And I feel there's a misguided sense that the construction is therefore "primitive". I think that instead, it's actually resourceful. So learning about the way people build stable structures in a place with these kinds of limitations might help to address the sort of prejudices people have about these structures and about the people who make and live in them. Because those prejudices are plentiful.

Well it appears to be similar to Mexico where vast portions don’t have access to lumber. Adobe is still used and can still be gorgeous and long lasting. Lilies of the Field a 1960’s movie with Sydney Poitier shows him building a chapel in Arizona for Catholic nuns out of adobe as they can’t afford red brick. Adobe is a mixture of water, silt , clay
