the guy with the tamales is so right ! also speak up if you think somethings too expensive because they like to up the prices when they know you’re a tourist
@pilarpino29733 жыл бұрын
When they do that price gauging is usually not by a lot. Maybe a few cents or a dollar. But when you travel a lot, you get used to this. So why care for a few cents? Can't be that greedy when you travel. Especially with street vendors and during a pandemic. We pay more to the top corporations, and to taxes. No one complains or questions the cost of an i phone, for example. Most of those components are cheap, made of hazardous materials, and with cheap slave labor.
@omar92683 жыл бұрын
@@pilarpino2973 yeah although vendors usually make good money in busy spots compared to the average salary in mexico , it doesn’t hurt to give them a few extra cents but it does add up and you shouldn’t take advantage of tourists

Quick fact Polanco is a medium high income neighborhood. No the richest in CDMX. They are at least 4 zones richer than Polanco but none of them are designed for tourist to see. In fact, in those zones it'd be very likely that police will stop you just for walking with your camera. Similar zones are found throughout Mexico. They are very hidden from tourist and most of the population.

Keep the videos rolling. It doesn't hurt to be outside the comfort zone , especially if it gives us a better understanding of this human race.

Yes, it was a "territorial macho" thing, 😂 lame... And yes, she shortchanged you and charged you 10 pesos more, I'm from Guadalajara, but been living in Mexico City for about 9 years and street esquites are no more than $20 pesos 😬, hate when they do that... "te turistearon" that's how we say it. And it happens all over the country, the first time I came to Mexico city as national tourist from GDL they did the same to me in Xochimilco. These street vendors know their public and targets. My recommendation, it's more of cultural phenomena amongst street vendors in the entire country, instead of asking for the product you ask first the cost, like if you are going to negotiate. ¿Cuanto cuesta? "how much?".. Intead of... ¿me da uno por favor? "Can I have one?".... One, you got them off guard to answer you and two, you will know the costs when you look around in the future ... Be safe! And welcome 🇲🇽

The guy who sells tamales is really nice. His advice made me think. Nice place, Zona Rosa. So, so far, would you say you like Mexico City better than Guadalajara? One thing that scares me about CDMX (never been there) is the traffic/having trouble getting to places (like work) and the earthquakes (I’ve heard they have plenty of those). But sometimes I think I overreact. All the same, Mexico City is amazing.
@colibritravel59943 жыл бұрын
The big downside for me is all the bs with my car and getting that in order. There are apparently rules and regulations unique to cdmx, but all the officials seems to have a different take on it, it might be something that I'll just have to take as it come. I don't know if I can say I like cdmx better than gdl so far but I've really liked it a lot!
@Vancouver_Dan3 жыл бұрын
I prefer CDMX. The colonial buildings in GDL are brown and a bit drab whereas there is a lot of colour and grand architecture in Mexico City. CDMX is also much more walkable - with many areas filled with cool restaurants and hipster coffee shops. Plus - my understanding is that CDMX is second only to London in the number of museums and galleries.
@miguelidcomm3 жыл бұрын
@@Vancouver_Dan I don’t know about Mexico City, but the Guadalajara government doesn’t seem to do a good job helping preserve all colonial buildings (or any other old structures for that matter). Even in downtown, you see a lot of newer structures that are focused on business and not on art/tourism. In CDMX, I see (or at least I notice from a distance) that there’s more “preservation” there. There’s more to see in their historic center (and that’s not necessarily because of the city being a larger city or the country’s capital). Such a shame, with Jalisco being beautiful in many other ways.
