Moss and Pentre Station was a small station serving the outlying villages to the west of Wrexham.
It was open between 1889 and 1917 and lay on the Wrexham, Mold and Connahs Quay Railway's Brymbo branch. The Great Western Railways Moss branch crossed over the station by an adjacent bridge. Both lines are now public footpaths.
Despite being shut for over 100 years the Wrexham Bound platform still has substantial remains. The bridge that once carried the GWR line is also intact. Even though the line was an early closure for passengers it remained open for freight until 1954.

This is only 5-10 min walk away from me as I am in Pentre Broughton and this stretch of line the lower line use to link the Brymbo steel works line past where you were filming at the station platform it goes across the embankment by the lake in the valley accross to the Gwersyllt side passing through Highfield and Pendine along Griffiths Road and there use to be a bridge over the Mold Road just on the edge of Gwersyllt and joined the main line in Gwersyllt at Brymbo Junction witch is the Wrexham to Bidstone/Liverpool line. The other end of this line at New Broughton where the line joined the Brymbo steel works line was a big loop that joined the line from Croes Newydd ( by Morrisons ) to Brymbo and the steel works and after the steel works the line carried on as a single line around the back of Brymbo passing Pen Rhos and Pentre Saeson towards Geggin and on to Minera lime works and lead works. Great video Thanks

Thank you for this, you were stood less than 100 yards from my house for the shot down the steps! Lived there for years, knew about the old lines but didn't realise there was remains of the platforms.

Thanks David. The council could really make a feature of it if they cleared some of the overgrowth

@@RWHTrains as is true with most of Wrexham's industrial heritage, unfortunately. If you're in the area again, I would recommend the path from the top of Coedpoeth that follows the old line up to Minera quarry
