We came here last year to watch a launch. It was a pretty amazing feeling to see it in person. I live right by the national air force base museum so we get to see a lot of fun nasa and space stuff but never get to watch anything cool like a space launch. This video was perfect timing with the new Webb scope images being released.

This was so COOL. The fact that they made those capsules specifically for the astronaut on the mission. For all that money, they were betting on no one getting hurt. That blows my mind. And that Space Bar would be so cool to be at during a launch. Thanks for sharing this cool experience with us! Very informative and fascinating! :D

Actually Tim, "Space Camp" was filmed partially at the first (and last remaining) Space Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. I was a junior in high school and attended school near Huntsville. I have friends who were extras in the movie. You and Jen and Jackson should come up here to go to the Space Center and see everything the Rocket City has to offer. Take care!
@ccm17672 жыл бұрын
There were some geographically unrealistic moments in the movie "Space Camp" where campers supposedly drove from Huntsville, down to KSC, and then back to camp in basically no time. In real life it would be about an 11 hour drive one way. But yes, there was a branch of Space Camp near KSC. Also, did you ever visit Disney's California Adventure back when they had a Condor Flats area? Two of the songs playing in the area ambiance soundtrack was the theme from the movie "Space Camp" and the them from "The Right Stuff." So a nice Disney - NASA connection. For a while, there was also part of a space shuttle main engine on display outside the Test Pilot Grill.

I so want to go there. My home town in Hutchinson KS is the home of the Kansas Cosmophere. This place is fabulous, we have the Liberty Bell capsule that Mecury astronaut Gus Grissom flew and it sank after it landed. Gus said the hatch just blew. The KC helped get it and did all the restoration on it. Then we have the Apollo 13 capsule, looking in there and just thinking what those men went thru. Then all those original mission control panels and controls were all shipped here and went thru restoration, th KC have a couple of them that you can sit down at. I also cared for a patient and his wife worked at NASA back in the late 50s and 60s she new all the Mercury, Gemini, some of the Apollo astronauts. She told me a lot of great stories and she said Alan Shepard was definitely a joker. Sorry for the long post but if you are ever driving thru KS stop in Hutchinson stop by and take a tour you won't b e sorry

I am so tempted to go to Kennedy Space Center when I go to WDW later this year but I’m nervous about taking an Uber there alone.
@jillparks2 жыл бұрын
Hi. An Uber will cost you a fortune - it's about 60 miles or so from Disney. The good thing is that it's very easy to get to by rental car from the airport. (It doesn't matter if you're actually coming in at the airport at that time - you can rent vehicles at the airport no matter what.) I found the simplest route to be 528 "The Beachline" east (the highway that goes by the airport) all the way to route 3 "Courtenay Pkwy" on Merritt Island. Take a left and go north until you get to Space Commerce Way. Turn left at the light and the big sign that says Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex - turn left". Drive past the warehouse-looking Blue Origin facilities, and the next light is the space center entrance at the right. It's very simple to get there once you get out of the airport loop. BTW - 528 is a toll road, so ask the rental car desk about any Sunpass options. I think most rental cars come with them anyway since two major highways going through Orlando are toll roads. Anyway, I hope you do decide to go, it is a really fun day trip.
