That ending is just perfect in my opinion. You’re left sitting there quietly with what you just saw and the knowledge that Josef got away with it, a lot of times too, and he’s getting ready to make another victim - and you can do absolutely nothing about it. There is nothing left to see. And in a way, the movie makes a little bit of a creep out of you too, right? At least for me, it felt that way. I just saw a man getting manipulated, terrorized and murdered, saw the whole thing, and kinda wanted to follow more of the story, to delve deeper into Josef’s mind although, it seems, he doesn’t really have a personality of his own and everything he is is a collection of traits he “stole” from the people he killed previously and all the masks he wore (not just Peachfuzz but also the ways he had to metaphorically mask in order to adapt himself to his victims’ personalities and manipulate them) and the little things he learned while “hunting for prey”. And actually, the second episode off of The Creep Tapes is very interesting in this sense. The bird watching one.

They are both actually such good movies because of how raw and how similar to real life they are. Real life serial killers rarely do anything flashy or horrifically gruesome, most just simply murder and occasionally torment. There is only 1 Ted Bundy but there are thousands of unnamed murderers who break into people's homes with a knife just to stab them and leave. Incredible films honestly
@madeusedward00493 жыл бұрын
These are both two of my favorite horror movies of all time. My favorite shot in any horror film ever is when Joseph opens his closet at the end of the first movie and reveals dozens of tapes dedicated to his victims. It makes you wonder about who they were and what joseph did to them, it’s fascinating. And I could go on for days about how much I love creep 2. That movie is a masterpiece
@noneofyourbusiness4294 Жыл бұрын
There are quite a few serial killers who do/did flashy stuff. There are process killers, and there are product killers. For product killers, the death of the victim is usually rather quick. They want the body and that's it. Process killers are torturers, they enjoy the harm they cause. And they aren't as rare as you'd think they are

I’ve been in borderline dangerous situations to avoid making a scene or making an awkward confrontation. I only got out of them because I finally put my foot down, and it took a weird version of courage for me to do that. Not only is this a pretty common personal flaw, it’s a super common way for killers and rapists irl to exploit victims. Social obligation is a powerful drug and this movie felt all too real

This was such a surprise to me. I heard some people recommend it and was bored on Netflix one day. By the end I was a tense, uncomfortable ball on the couch. I’m not creeped out too often, but watching this late at night is an unsettling experience.

Creep 2 is my all time favorite horror flick just because no scene has ever made my skin crawl as bad as the hot tub scene. Also, both lead actors in the sequel give stellar performances

One thing I liked about Josef is that he definitely played into other people’s pity more than a lot of slashers. Like, usually when a killer is crazy, they just opt to physically overpower someone, or be very sneaky, but Josef relies on appearing meek and pathetic…. Much like actual predators do. Josef would never target someone with a shiny backbone who told him outright to go fuck himself, or had a genuine avenue of self defense. He’s weak; he will act sad and lonely to elicit pity from people in a way that makes them vulnerable. All of his actions in the first film are him raising the heat, slowly acclimating Aaron to all of his weirdness until Aaron doesn’t know what to expect next.

Really? I thought the sequel was better. It took the suspense and great acting of the first, and added in more black humour and fleshed out characterisation.

The best thing about the movie is that once the camera enters that house, you are just constantly uncomfortable. You feel the intimate boundaries being broken with each weird scene. It is extremely unsettling to me, yeah it is cringe but thats the point I feel. I yhink we all have felt this with someone in our lives rather a friend, stranger, or family member. The way their cringe or strange behavior makes you feel so uncomfortable really sticks with you and lingers.

I really enjoyed the Creep movies. It doesn’t rely on cheap jumpscares or loud, stupid noises. I’m also really impressed that much of the movie wasn’t scripted. That level of improvisation takes skill. I can’t wait for the third one

I haven't heard of creep, so I'm gonna have to go watch it before this video since you've made spoilers clear, but I'd like to see you someday cover the haunting of sharon Tate and that its...really just...ugh I have too many nasty words to say. I enjoy and like both movies precisely because they get the found footage "grit" right. Which is what many other FF movies sacrifice for spectacle and action (ie. there is no reason for them to actually be found footage, they could have been filmed normally). Creep utilizes FF to make you feel like an participant and to make you feel like you're watching something dangerous, something you should not be watching. The uncomfortable situations are even more uncomfortable thanks to the format. The building dread, the scares it all works (mostly) in harmony. I think a perfect example is the scene in Creep 2, where "Aaron" picks up the camera and goes to talk to Sara doing the dishes. The awkward pauses in their dialogue, the darkness outside the window, the sounds you can only hear at night in the woods . It perfectly captures the moment and such throwaway scene would never be this effective were it shot normally.

I think Aarons fate was sealed the second he answered the ad, there was never gonna be an opportunity to get away but Joseph was just testing how many outs he could give him and Aaron didn't take a single one. He stayed after the numerous jump scares, Joseph showing him photos of him from the house, going inside for a drink, listening to the rape story, and finally going back to the park. Joseph gave him every possible opportunity to grow a spine and stand up to his creepy behavior and he just didn't do it.
@jostockton.2 күн бұрын
That's a good point and I think this is true, since Josef showed he knew exactly where Aaron lived.

The thing that makes these movies atmosphere is the absolute VOID of music, theres no timing really telling you whats going on, no dramatic music or background noises hinting at anything, it took me the 3rd time watching it to realize that the atmosphere is built specifically by the movie and no help with music and such, which is astounding for any horror film

I found this movie in the middle of a "everything Mark Duplass does is amazing" phase. It never really ended, I just ran out of shows and movies. This is an amazing and unique found-footage film, and it was unsettling for me, something I tend not to experience with any type of horror or suspense. Enough so - that "Creep II" has been sitting in my watch list for over a year and I have not yet ventured in. I don't know if my hesitation is "sequel disappointment" or "accepting Duplass in this role despite how well it is acted", or if it's because "the secret is out in the first one"... but, "Creep" is a thrilling watch beginning to end.
