Exploring western Newfoundland water systems in search of early spring trout and salmon. These fish were extremely picky and made us work extremely hard, which made this trip even more rewarding !

Right on bud . Sometimes it’s like that but ya stuck to it and got into some nice fish ! Looks like the new gear is doing well will be interesting to see how it holds up! Thanks for taking us along

Thanks ! I think my problem is, I expect too much when I go fishing lol. Every fish is a blessing, no matter the size or quantity ! Main thing is just getting outside for sure. Yes, it will be interesting to see how this gear holds up for me in the fall and in Newfoundland rugged terrain ! Thanks for watching !

Hello there nice fish, if you put some paper towel around your spool before you put your line on and build it out till your spool is near full you will be able to cast farther. Just don't put to much on ,or when you open it up to cast it will fall off.

Love the videos. Just wondering why you don't use swivels? Makes the lure or spinner have a better action and prevents line twist.

Thanks , good question! This time of the year a swivel can make the difference between a fish biting , or not biting. People will say otherwise or that it doesn’t matter … but I’ve tested that for years & personally I do find when they’re finicky & lazy in the winter , anything that looks off , they don’t want it ! Depending on the lure , but sometimes no swivel will make the lure flutter slower , or faster ( depending on water flow & a bunch of variables ). The line twist though , your 100% right about , no swivel causes line twist. I just allow a break between every few casts for my line to somewhat untwist lol. Swivel generally are the way to go , but personally for winter fish in general , they’re so picky , that a little piece of metal sometimes turns em away ! You may think I’m crazy , & that’s okay 😂but give it a try sometime & see if your catch rate changes ! Thanks for watching !
