In NYC, yes they do. People are coming from jersey and outside the boroughs. Could they skip driving? Some. Not all.

How is that legal!!?? I envy you so much! If you try this on the streets of Barcelona you would at least get to be aware of cops. Cuz they will either arrest you or give you a ticket. As you (maybe not this guy) need to be able to stop quicker than you actually can on blades
@Belhade8 күн бұрын
@ Don't stop, can't get caught! LOL As far as I know it's perfectly legal in the same way bicycles are. I've gone blading down Broadway chugging a beer when I passed a group of cops hanging around an intersection. One of them yelled HEY! You can't do that, cover up the booze! 😂

I agree. When people get over the sticker shock, and learn to adjust their lifestyle to the new expense, they'll be back to normal. I don't see a majority of people selling their cars, and relying on mass transit to and from their homes. That's not necessarily possible for many people. And even though the time to travel from your location downtown was pretty long in a car, it would probably be even longer if coming from long island, NJ, or albany as some of these commuters do. So ultimately, they'll end up eating it, and rolling it into the extremely high costs of living to not only live in the great Empire State, NY, but to have to work downtown in NYC with its added charges. I lived in upstate NY for 6 years, and the cost is crazy for everything. Food, insurance, gas, etc everything is just that much more. But if you budget accordingly, you can make it work and tough it out.

I loved watching you zoom around downtown. What struck me was not the light traffic, it was the number of NYPD. It was three or five every block. Is that level of police presence really warranted or effective?

We need to really stop doing bits on the effects of Congestion Pricing at this point. I've been driving in NY for years, and I can tell you, the light traffic you see now is normal. When the new year's celebrations end, and the tourists leave, the zone is always like what you see now. Those of us who work there breathe a sigh of relief every year around this time. The true test is at the end of the year, when the holidays roll around, and the tourists return. All you're doing right now is helping to falsely prove these lazy officials correct.

So he thinks the toll will slow down temporarily but eventually drivers will drive their cars into the city regardless of the toll. That’s too bad, but not surprising. The way the vast majority of people get to and from places in the US is by car so this makes sense.
