Today's adventures takes us back to Oakwood Cemetery. Well, there's so much to see here. Today we find the graves of George Woodruff who started the first bank in Joliet, Colonel Frederick Bartleson who lost his arm as a volunteer in the Civil War but kept fighting with one arm until he was killed in battle, Sir William Cornelius Van Horne who was Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Pacific Railway, his father Cornelious Covenhoven Van Horne who was the first mayor of Joliet, Edwin Porter who opened the first brewery in Joliet that was the size of two city blocks. He was so famous that they elected him mayor of Joliet six times! Plus there are ancient Indian Mounds and really great monuments and mausoleums. So come join me as we continue to explore Oakwood Cemetery.
