That's a beautiful beach. It could be in Abel Tasman. I've noticed that the girls are getting their hiking legs. I'm glad your ferry trip back was OK. I was supposed to fly over for a day trip but the wind was so bad it was cancelled! Next time I'm in the deep south I won't have a hired camper van so could spend a couple of days on Rakiura. I'll still fly over though!!! Thanks for the great video. Happy travels and good luck to Harvey for future Kiwi Guardian post locating.

Yeh I think flying would be a good option! Probably a beautiful way to see the island too. They have got little hikers legs huh! Not much baby fat on them haha, Harvey still has those little chubby baby wrists 😅

There is 1 of those kiwi guardians posts in a garden in Dunedin. The garden is called woodhaugh gardens

Another fab video, how cool that Harvey was able to add to his Kiwi Guardian collection. That feeling of dread to get back on the ferry isn’t great, so pleased it wasn’t as rough again. When we lived there houses had their own big generator for power, we lived at Butterfields Beach.
@AdventuresWithRosy2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow what a spot to live! A generator is a good idea, wonder if people are moving to solar these days!?

Was great to see your perspective of Stewart island. Glad the boat ride went well!

Cheers James! Yeh what a relief that was haha! If we ever went back we would fly I reckon (or stock up on sea sickness remedies)

Great video. I have never been to Stewart Island and am shocked by how small the main street is. Thanks for the tour.

looks like such a cool place, would be interesting in Winter, when it's freezing, and low light hours. What was the water like for swimming?
@AdventuresWithRosy2 жыл бұрын
It was fresh haha, kids swam in their wetsuits! Too cold for us 😅 hope this rain is treating you well!

Lots of helpful info there, nice one. It does look quiet and peaceful, how long would you have liked to stay there I'm hindsight?

Loved the video! We can't wait to go see for ourselves, good advice, we will spend at least 2 days when we go. I do have a general question on camping: How much cash would you recommend keeping on hand for paying for campgrounds like DOC where there are only drop boxes? Thanks again for sharing your adventures!
@AdventuresWithRosy2 жыл бұрын
Good question, we keep some gold coins for laundry and about $40 cash on us for things like that. Most DOC campgrounds we book online so it’s nice and easy 👍

@@AdventuresWithRosy Thanks that's very helpful, and glad to hear you can book online. Very helpful, and much appreciated! We will be starting our adventure when we arrive from Canada we think in June.

Apparently, if your not a local, visitors a charged a $5 levy which is included in your boat or air ticket, or via honest box if you come over via other means. I don't think any other council in NZ charges a levy for non-rate paying visitors.
@AdventuresWithRosy2 жыл бұрын
Ah gotcha didn’t know that! Makes sense 👍

Ferry is $110 now unfortunately. Also Half the individuals on our boat were sick. Pretty rough journey.
@AdventuresWithRosy8 ай бұрын
It’s rough huh! I wonder what it cost to fly over, probably a lot more expensive?

Lol. Great video but not for landlubbers on the ferry. After two or three trips the stomach adjusts. Island life is for the tougher generation.
@AdventuresWithRosy10 ай бұрын
Haha you are right, our generation isn’t quite as tough as previous ones 😅
