Exploring Paper Mario's... Internet Browser?

Today, we're going to explore a Paper Mario themed internet browser created by MediaBrowser, Inc. in 2000. MediaBrowser was a company that partnered with Nintendo to create many Nintendo-themed internet browsers. During the Dot Com Bubble of the early 2000s, MediaBrowser had a big opportunity to capitalize on this internet craze, and created a unique way to surf the web with your favorite characters. Has that dated but charmingly simple quality that marked so much early-2000s media and Internet aesthetic, doesn’t it? (Ask Jeeves, anyone?) This is also unintentionally amusing in that a popular Google Translated mod of the game, Mario, “Bowser” gets garbled into “Browser” throughout.

I really enjoyed the creativity of this era. Around every corner you'll see something new, like voice controls on Hey You Pikachu, the mobile phone connectivity for pokemon crystal, e-reader cards, all that. Everything is very streamlined now and often lacks that same magic for me

The reason none of these work on recent versions of Windows is that they’re not really browsers in and of themselves; they’re basically just containers which embed Internet Explorer. Because recent versions of Windows no longer have IE, there is nothing for them to use and so they can’t run. Compatibility modes basically emulate old bugs or other behaviors for existing programs, but it all works on top of what is already there. Since IE is no longer present, there is nothing to fall back on, and it’s not feasible for Microsoft to adapt all its behaviors to Edge.

There might be a higher chance that the direct links would be accessible :) the links on the side use a mediabrowser "forwarder" link which is less likely it could have been snapshotted
