BigBang helped train the YG trainees over the years . Before debut BB has learned how to perform on stage from Se7en . After BB got famous it was their turn to help YG launch new artists. They promoted anyone from Akmu , Ikon, Winner , Lee Hi to Black Pink .

To refresh your memory :-) the song is about a boy in love with a friend but she has a boyfriend . He knows her boyfriend is cheating and he wonders why she cant chose him over that bastard. BigBang had hard competition during their career and they were big internationally too even then. In 2012 they had a world tour and in London they had to add a second concert. In 2011 they won an MTV Europe award . They also have an MTV Italy award

YG Ent seemed to have really prepared Jennie - and all BlackPink member to become a big star. Back to that year, 2013, Jennie was involved in many collaborations with her sunbae (senior) in YG Ent. Jennie also on Seungri BigBang's solo album for "GG Be" song, on G-Dragon's album for "Black (Korean Vers)" song and on Lee Hi's album for "Special". Basically everyone in BlackPink had spotlight far before they debuted. I remember Rose also in G-Dragon solo album. I added both the Epik High MV and the HI SUHYUN MV on my list. Thanks for letting me know about this, I had no clue that all 4 of them were in MVs prior to their debut already! I thought it was only Jennie

My pleasure! as YG artist fans since 2010, I can say that's so YG marketing way. Bcs YG did it too to 2NE1 former member. Park Bom was featuring in GD TOP single , right after 2NE1 debut: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqmtgqWirtiKl5o. YG also did it to Jang Hanna, one of YG former trainee. Unfortunately Jang Hanna left the agency before debut as YG ent artist. Here Jang Hanna in JinuSean (YG 1st generation artist) MV: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apCsYnuOgsiCpa8. Oh, Bobby iKON (pre debut) appeared in that MV as well. This is YG "habit" strategy to make their new artist get more spotlight. So once the new artists reach the top of spotlight and make people curious about their past work, people will track back and recognize other YG artist tho. A good way to build a cycle. 😄

I think the website in your video is wrong? lol Also, ah, 2012, the year that K-pop tried to get a little more mature lol Well yup, Big Bang were always big since 2008, and 2012 was when they released "Fantastic Baby" which was just huge lol Yeah, it probably got a PAK both because it's GD and also because like you said the song sounds pretty personal with its acoustic sound and also the lyrics are probably meaningful too
