Go for it man. Cornwall is know for having good weather. I suspect a pomegranate tree in a sunny sheltered position would love it there.

Im the same as you Michael, with 3 Pomegranates yet to flower and fruit. I agree they do need to be mature plants/trees in order to fruit. Im going to plant one in ground and see how it compares to the other 2.

Thanks. Hope your tree flowers for you, it a joy seeing the Pomegranate in flower. They call it Ponganat in JA 😄😄, and I grow it in memory of seeing it flourishing in many places when I was young boy in Jamaica.

The ones in the Peace garden are the double flowered ornamental variety which are sterile Mike, they won't produce fruit. Your plant next to the kiwi looks amazing Mike. Generally they hate being in pots for more than a year or two which stops them flowering but nevertheless that one looks promising 🤞

Thanks Brett, the information regarding the Peace garden Pomegranate is enlightening. As you know, Pomegranate trees or bushes can grow to huge sizes. The one next to my green house is planted in a pot with the pot buried in the ground so that the root ball is contained whilst feeder roots can go through into the ground. Both the pomegranate and the KIWI are planted in pots, but the base of the pots have openings so that the root ball is contained whilst feeder roots go into the ground. This for me is the compromise to keep the plants small with less of the problems associated with growing them in standalone containers/pots.
