I love how knowledgeable you are on the architecture in the areas you film. I also love street art as well .

Thanks for talking about your social experience in Athens!This was a fun video. I'm happy to hear you are able to make new friends by going to a social event. Street art districts seemed interesting. Are you planning on staying in Athens or going back to Texas for your Christmas?

Thanks for this video! Meeting people was the biggest obstacle living in Greece , never mastered it 😖 It was quite lonely and we ended up leaving. Looking back wonder if we didn’t try hard enough after seeing your video. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures

It takes time and I think it’s something you have to keep doing as people come and go if they aren’t Greek.

This was a very nice video. I’m not familiar with Psyrri. I like the fact that you include what you paid for the meals. The meals looked delicious.

It would be cool if you could video from inside the Hondos center at Omonia. They might not allow it but the would be awesome.
@agirlandherpassport2 жыл бұрын
@@muddywaters538 They may not and also I try to be careful around people as not everyone likes to be filmed. In a store that is a bit more sensitive. What is it inside the Hondos Center you want to see?

I used to go there once in a blue moon to but Clarins products. Was just wondering if they still are there.

thank you for showing Psyrri! that is one area I am considering moving to when I retire! what attracted me was a street named TAKI...I thought is would be cool to live on TAKI street since my name is Taki!! of course, i like some peace a d quiet too...hmmm...decisions ..lol
@agirlandherpassport2 жыл бұрын
Yeah and there isn’t a supermarket nearby so that might be annoying. The crowds and noise would not make it easy to live there. Keep in mind it’s worse in summer.

You can always go down there to see it while you live here. But I personally wouldn’t live there. I don’t think many people live there anymore. During lockdown it was dead!

@@agirlandherpassport that's a good point. i will have to wait and see if my youngest son (26) is coming with me. He lives with me and has autism. He loved our visit in September and fell in love with Athens and the family. Either way, if we have the exciting and frenetic pace of Athens, the family is only 45 minutes away. I see it as a win/win :)

Nice informative segment. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. I’m not sure we’ll visit Psyrri our next trip. We will spend most of our time in the village. I do want to see the Temple of a Olympian Zeus close up. And go to the top of Mt. Likavitos.

Thanks again for a great video. Just wondering if they have any strict laws in Athens for graffiti vandalism. The street art looks very cool, but the random scribbles all over the place just make the place look messy.
@agirlandherpassport2 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome. Not sure. They do try to clean it up but it just comes back.

I’m moving to Athens next month (just got my visa!) all by myself and I am worried about making friends. I was in Crete last year but I figure it might be easier to make friends in Athens. I’m moving from upstate New York. I’m going to try MeetUps, volunteering and expat facebook groups. Any other suggestions are welcome!

You will be amazed of how many buildings in Exarcheia or Psirri where under siege and occupation (illegal of course) by the Anarchists. More than 40!!!! Also the area got its name by a resident who originated from the small eastern island of Psarra near Chios who built a small church there. They named him o Psirris (islander from Psarra) and thus because he donated the church the whole area was named by the name he was given from other residents.
@agirlandherpassport2 жыл бұрын
That is very interesting to know how the neighborhood got its name! Thanks!
