Exploring Puerto Princesa
Jo, our guide while in Puerto Princesa, picked us up at the hotel and we drove the 1/2 hour to Honda bay. Here we got on the boat to make three stops. Starfish Island was our first stop. The first thing we did when we got off the boat picked out seafood that was caught by the locals that morning. They had crab, lobster, scallops, and so much more. After picking out scallops and lobsters, we headed into the water.
The water was really shallow and most of the coral was dead. It wasn't anything special and I would skip it next time as there isn't any coral or starfish. We did get to feed the fish bread which the kids really enjoyed. After swimming Jo had an excellent lunch prepared for us with pork, and mussels.
The next stop was Luli Island. The buildings there are really rundown from the typhoon that came through in December 2021. The swimming area, during low tide, when we were there, is really small. At first glance, we were not impressed, but when we got in the water it was much better. We fed the fish and saw lots of large starfish. There wasn't any big coral. But it was deeper than Starfish island so we saw some bigger fish.
They even have a high platform you can jump off of into the water, but none of us did that.
The third stop was just swimming so we decided to skip it and call it a day.
